slipstream
I have installed 10.4.5 from a DVD i got from PB I have done this on several hard drives and always end up with some strange behaviour compared to my powerbook I then download a few basic apps to install with a disk image dmg extention. anytime i try to install from a disk image or just try to drag the contents out it gives me an error saying i cant do this error 41. I find no one else referencing this hassle on here or apples discussions. One thing it copies some of the file out before it errors. So say with firefox it is partially copied and the icon goes to generic before it errors half way through the copy I can get around this by transfering to my powerbook over the network.. dragging contents to the powerbook drive and then copy back to the intel mac.. then they work fine. I have admin access on both systems anyone ever seen anything like this before ? It is driving me nuts. I repaired permissions to no avail. WoodNYC
I'm not possitive but I think you need 10.4.6 to mount dmg files. Do a forum search for it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14897-is-this-normal/#findComment-95596 Share on other sites
slipstream
I'm not possitive but I think you need 10.4.6 to mount dmg files. Do a forum search for it the disk image mounts ok i have updated to 10.4.6 and it is exactly the same as it said it copies a part of the file across.. actually i changed the post with more details while you where replying so u might want to go back and read it again.. thanks I appreciate your input. If others had this hassle i would of expected to see plenty of posts but i find no reference to it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14897-is-this-normal/#findComment-95601 Share on other sites
Callysto
It could be that /System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.app is corrupt you could try replacing it from the install DVD using Pacifist. Also though it's a universal app you can open it with rosetta you could try that too Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14897-is-this-normal/#findComment-95622 Share on other sites
