First time poster ya'll, I can't seem to get around a serious problem for me.

Anyways, i'll try to be as descriptive and to the point as possible so I can try to troubleshoot my problem.

I have a MOTU traveller (external sound card for music production.) When I first installed my OS with Kalyway it worked with a simple driver install 100 percent and with no glitches. So the bad news.

One random day it decided it didn't want to work anymore and not be recognized in the sound output device menu. I've tried just about everything that a n00b-to-intermediate X86 googler/researcher could do to figure this out. I've reinstalled the drivers 5 billion times (seems like) and one time I actually received a brief message that went away too fast saying that the kext could not be recognized. Can't recreate that message though sadly....

A couple tips for you friendly troubleshooters, I'm convinced it is a firewire issue on the return end because I have tried to install firmware to the device and it gets hung up on the waiting to receive information from device end to the computer. Also, the driver becomes visible when the hardware is recognized and the Kext files for the Motu (my sound card) are chillin in my Extensions folder. The Firewire is however functional with my external hard drive and registers in my profiler as being 400 mb/s. I'm using the onboard case firewire which is plugged into my gigabyte p45-ds3r motherboard. I'm sure I could buy a firewire card and fix the problem but lets assume I'm broke and am buying a hackintosh instead of a macpro for a reason. ;)

System specs:

I do have my onboard sound and all usb devices working in 10.5.5 with the 9.5 darwin kernel.

I'm rollin a quad core overclocked to 3.0 with 8 gigs ram on a P45-DS3R

One last thing...My system all of the sudden started sleeping/resetting normal after being )#($*#)#$ up in 10.5.3 without me doing a thing. This is around the time when the firewire stopped working. I know...sounds weird but its true. So much for being brief, hopefully I didn't forget anything.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm pretty busy during the day but will do my best to reply quickly.

thanks!

Sorry can't help you. I also have the Traveller. And it used to work great with logic 8 but now it's stops playing audio random and gives me an audio and midi not in sync. Also itunes plays back sounds with hickups.

Anybody got a clue?

Sorry i'll get myself a new topic
