dwbird
How did you partition your drive, what did you use to partition it and did you set the bootable flag on the AF partition? thrunner
The first thing you should do with a new laptop install is to find the hardware specification. You can do that usually with a search of your laptop model together with a key word 'linux' because most likely someone in the linux camp has already done it : You have got an ATI RS200 problem. Search this forum for the specifics: eg, http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...61&hl=ATI+RS200 (10.4.1 install works with platform=acpi) http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...8088&hl=ATI+200 http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/showprod...ct=2094&cat=528 Description: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/spe...ision_mksp.pdf P4 2.8 GHz processor ATI Radeon IGP 345M video card 15.4" WXGA screen (full screen working with tuning) IEEE 802.11b/g wireless card (trying to get to work still) 60 GB hard drive DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive Keywords: sony vaio pcg k23 fedora core 3 /sbin/lspci output: 00:00.0 Host bridge: ATI Technologies Inc RS200/RS200M AGP Bridge [IGP 340M] (rev 02) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: ATI Technologies Inc PCI Bridge [IGP 340M] 00:03.0 Modem: ALi Corporation M5457 AC'97 Modem Controller 00:04.0 Multimedia audio controller: ALi Corporation M5451 PCI AC-Link Controller Audio Device (rev 02) 00:06.0 Bridge: ALi Corporation M7101 Power Management Controller [PMU] 00:07.0 ISA bridge: ALi Corporation M1533 PCI to ISA Bridge [Aladdin IV] 00:09.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc.
