Littlelad
For anybody that is interested this is a full guide on how I got leo4all v3 (10.5.2) on my Acer Aspire 5315 laptop from start to finish! (I tried to make this as simple as possible for anybody to follow even with very little comp knowledge) As I used this site alot for tips and help I thought I would give back info on how it all went for me! # I used magic iso to burn the leo4all iso I got at lowest speed possible on a DVD+R 1: Already had vista installed so I used disk management (start menu > right click my computer > manage > disk management 2: I shrunk my hdd space by right clicking > shrink > shrunk it by 50 gb (51,200 mb) (10 gb would be enough but i wanted to install games and amazing apps etc, right click and delete partition you just made. 3: Used disk part (start > accessories > right click command prompt > run as administrator, type "disk part" 4: In disk part type: "list disk", "select disk 0", "list partition", "create poartition primary id=af" (this creates a partition from the free space you just made in hfs+ which is what apple OSX runs on), "active", "list partition" (this is to make sure the partition you just created has a star next to it that means it is the active partition). 5: Insert leo4all DVD and reboot computer. 6: Press the button to go into setup right when your computer boots (usually F2), got to the boot screen and make sure that DVD drive is first, if so or when you make changes save and exit. 7: When your DVD boots up you should get a screen that says press any button for boot options, press any key and type "-v -f", press "enter" (just incase any problems occur when booting it should tell you what went wrong) 8: When you get to the first installation screen select your language and click next. Then at the top a menu should appear click utilities > disk utility. 9: In disk Utility select the partition made then click erase > journaled > name it > erase > pop-up screen should appear like Chris Tarrant are sure you you want to erase click yes. 10: Exit disk utility and carry on with the installation steps selecting the partition you made until it comes to the screen where you have the option to customise installation. Here is what I chose after many installations to get everything possible working: (make sure only these are selected unselect anything allready selected) --- Vanilla Kernel 9.2.2 ---Good Applications ---ACPIPlatform > Old-ACPIPlatform ---About this Mac ---PowerManagement-Laptops ---Third Party > Chipset > Intel-ICHx 11: Install your selection (takes around 15 - 30 minutes), when it has finished installing it will reboot eject DVD as soon as possible. 12: You should have the same style screen first boot as you did when you first inserted DVD with "Press any key for boot options", press any key then type "-s", press "enter". 13: This step is to get around a problem that many people have had with the welcome screen where it would get so far then loop back to the beginning and just keep looping over and over. 14: When the screen loads up (it will all be a load of text) type the following: "mount -uw /" (this will mount your HDD with Read/Write access) "passwd root" (it will come up saying type new root password, when you type it in it will not show you typing but believe me it will register the new password you type) type password and again to confirm, then type: "touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone" (this will bypass the welcome screen) "exit" this should then boot your laptop into the beautiful world known as Mac OSX if this is the case as it should be then shout hurraayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!! on the login screen login name is "root" and the password is the one you just created. 15: play about with it if you like for a bit, but then it is down to business for the last few things to make eveything possible operational. 16: Find (google) the following files: ALC268fix.dmg (this will sort out your audio woohoo) LeopardGraphicsUpdate1.0.dmg (you can actually get this straight from the Apple website), (this is to get your graphics card fully operational and give it support for many programs) * First install the Audio patch, and reboot * Next Install Graphics patch and reboot 17: once done go into system preference (on the dock) > accounts > press the + button to create yourself a new account just for you, type the info and make sure you select allow account to administer this computer. 18: The following is for if you still want to keep your Windows Vista (dont make me gag). 19: Insert Vista install disk and reboot, when it has booted up the disk select area etc then click repair my computer > open a command prompt window. 20: In here "type disk part" just like before > "list disk" > "select disk 0" > "list partition" > "select partion x" (x being the partition you have Vista installed on), > "active" > "exit" > "exit" > then quit installer disk to reboot your computer. 21: Boot computer into "Vulgar Vista" and find (google) "chain0" download it and place it in "my computer" > "c:" > "Windows" also copy it and paste it to "my computer" > "c:" 22: Open Command Prompt just like before it should come up with c:\windows\system32 type "cd.." 23: next type "bcdedit /copy {current} /d "Mac OS X" (just leave the {current} there dont change it) "bcdedit /enum active" "bcdedit /set {ID} PATH \chain0" (this is the step for replacing ID inside {ID} there with your correct ID, after you typed bcdedit /enum active it should have come up with a screen full of text usually titled Windows Boot Loader, find the paragraph that has Mac OSX in it and type inside the {ID} i.e replace ID with the very long number usually something like {69a9b2b5-e820-11dd-9b98-8ba3a3858909} something very similar to that. "exit" "exit" 24: Reboot your computer (make sure you have ejected all disks) on boot you should be fronted with a nice boot option screen that will have Windows Vista and Mac OSX for your choice. THE END Now for me this all worked ace except I eventually got rid of Vista and replaced the whole HDD with OSX YEY!!!! Specs: Working: Graphics working, Audio Working, DVD drive working, etc etc Not Working: Ethernet ( no drivers), wifi (no drivers) gonna buy a wifi dongle heard that works well. Any questions just ask me or anyone on the forums they halped me out loads.
Caffeineighted
First off I want to say thank you thank you thank you. I have an Acer Aspire 5315-2713 and I've been reading and reading for the past 2 days everything there is out there on Mac OS X 10.5.2 and how to get it running on this great bargain laptop. I can see you put a lot of work into this guide and I can't wait to try it out. I've been having some issues going it alone as I keep getting stuck at the Kernel info during the boot before installation can even be attempted. I've tried -x -s -whatever and nothing. Never tried what you suggest though so here it goes and let's hope I get this working. Thanks again!
Caffeineighted
Hm, so I stopped trying to get this working a while ago but I'm back at it. I couldn't even get to the installation screen. I kept getting a kernel panic while it was loading. It said something like I/O error over and over. Any ideas? I've tried reburning the disk, and I always burn at the lowest speed. Hi there sorry i havnt replied for a while, there is a few things I would like to get off you concerning your setup: 1: What installation of windows have you got on there allready? if any! 2: Are you trying to dual-boot or clean install over the whole HDD 3: Have you changed any of your BIOS settings? Cheers
Namal
Hi there, Thank you for this guide, which led me to a successful install on my daughter's laptop (not sure she'll get it back abytime soon). I used ideneb's last release (1.4, osx 10.5.6), but many stuff here were still very useful. I went through the kernel panic step also, all I did to pass it was re-do the partionning stuff and re-burn the DVD. Through iDeneb 1.4 almost everything is now working (sound after some tweaks, wifi, power management after tweaks, even the camera), but the graphic part shows 2 issues : 1) (not too bad, but annoying for my 11 years old) after boot, the screen is and remains dark blue, with mouse cursor, till you push the power button, which refreshes it up a little so you can access the login screen after canceling the shutdown ... 2) it seems OpenGL or something doesn't work since the Quartzcube quits on startup, the screen savers crash at first try (even in configuration panel), and Photo booth quits by saying something like "you video card is not supported". Any ideas on those issues ? Thanks, Philippe

Cheers Hi, I'm sorry too! I was away for a while but I'm back to trying to get this working lol 1: I have Windows 7 right now. 2: I'm trying to clean install, but if it's easier to dual-boot that's fine. 3: I haven't changed any BIOS settings at all. Caffeineighted
I was told by a friend who has done this before that I might want to try iDeneb. Should I give it a try? I still don't get what options to choose though.
stepsy
Thankyou... I also have an acer aspire 5315 but I am having problems. I have managed to get to the point where the mac os installer has started to calculate installation time but after about 4min (and about two inches of that green bar) my computer turns off without warning. I have tried 4 different mac os disks like kalyway, leo4all, jad etc. I would really appreciate some help from someone. Thankyou. p.s. I have vista.
