MjP99
I recently upgraded from an e6600 to a q9550 on an ECS G31T-M I use the "default" boot-132 iso method for a retail install and it works beautifully. The only problem is that my new processor (q9550 2.83ghz -1333 FSB with a 8.5 Multiplier) registers as 2.66 unknown. I am not worried about the unknown part, I don't know where the .5 of the multiplier went. CPU-X shows that indeed the multiplier is 8 and not 8.5. I installed the VoodooPower.kext from superhai and it got the multiplier to get to 8.5 on load. It still showed as 2.66 in the system information, and I was getting some random crashes after the voodoo kext was installed, so I removed it. When I install Kalyway or IAtkos or IPC onto a spare drive I get 2.83 GHZ unknown in my system information and in CPU-X shows 8.5. Obviously these installations don't use boot-132 or the retail disc which is what I'd really like to run. Any ideas as to why one goes full CPU speed and the other one does not? Any help is always appreciated! josephien
well i had the same thing on a laptop, fsb speed not correct and running at 2ghz instead of the 2.2ghz (its a t7500) after a lot of testing i realized the poblem came from the applesmbiosefi.kext i used, then i switched to smbiosresolver and voila all working fine. also smbiosenabler didn't work Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148436-retail-install-has-lower-cpu-multiplier-than-ipc-1056-any-ideas/#findComment-1051253 Share on other sites
MjP99
Thank you for the reply! I tried that kext, but no change. Still wrong speed. The strange thing is how it works on every hacked OSX86 distro I use. I think it must be something that BOOT-132 is loading, I just can't figure out what it is. josephien
is your fsb speed correct? greetz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148436-retail-install-has-lower-cpu-multiplier-than-ipc-1056-any-ideas/#findComment-1053454 Share on other sites
MjP99
Yes. It is the multiplier... it is seeing it as 8 and not 8.5. I mage a new boot-132 image with just dsmos, smbios and cpu disabler kexts and it is showing the correct speeds now when booted from USB. With the CD boot it thinks my FSB is 352hmz not 333.... I think for now I am going to stick with IPC 10.5.6. It works nice and I dual boot Vista so I like the quick boot with chameleon. josephien
so when booting from usb the fsb differs from booting from cd? did you put the latest smbios.kext on the image you're using? also try adding the smbios injector i use on that image (smbiosresolver) and be sure that there are no other injectors for smbios in your kexts folder of your leo installation combining those gives trouble greetz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148436-retail-install-has-lower-cpu-multiplier-than-ipc-1056-any-ideas/#findComment-1055173 Share on other sites
