westwaerts
damn nobody never answers in this forum ? before the grey screen with spinning wheel shows up, you got a black screen with darwin bootloader Hit F8 and type -v next to boot (verbose mode = this shows you the error messages) read errors there ( not all the other stuff) and post here, so we can help you. as far as now, something went wrong and be polite here, there are no damned people here, neither are we a commercial hotline you want something from us ( bear that in mind) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148116-a-dark-screen-appears-to-tell-me-shutting-down/#findComment-1049378 Share on other sites

hansning
same thing happening to my now. verbose shows nothing apparent.... last thing it tells me is my system model name: ep45-ud3r (my mobo) i'm no expert, but i see a bunch of display fails, and also something that reads: backtrace terminated-invalid frame pointer 0 Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies): com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagemeet(59.0.1)@54912000->0x5492afff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148116-a-dark-screen-appears-to-tell-me-shutting-down/#findComment-1050053 Share on other sites

ForestGuardian
Make sure you have the latest and/or most compatible kernel for your motherboard chipset or CPU type. - - - For iDeneb builds, if you can't isolate the error via verbose mode, then toggle everything off except for the minimal installation you need. Continue restarting your machine with consequent additions of other kext packages, like those for audio, video, ethernet, etc. We can't help you without more detailed information. - - - For the vanilla installation, it is more than likely your AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext that is causing the trouble. You have to remove that, prior to rebooting onto your target drive if possible, in order for 10.5.6 to work properly -- and to keep the non-xeon processor cores from overheating. 4GB of RAM also often causes issues, but usually during operation rather than during startup. If you've had no trouble with 10.5.5 or earlier, then it's not likely it will cause trouble in 10.5.6. What kext are you using for your video card? I downloaded a video injector once from the OSx86 database, and the very next restart had a kernel panic. If it comes down to a possible GFX or EFI string, or a video kext, just remove all video kexts and bundles for other chipsets. Add in a few more lines to your build signature, or just post what methods you've used to enable each component. It'll help isolate the problem. Still, if you're getting the multi-lingual "Please restart or shutdown..." etc. message, it's almost a certainty that either the kernel or the video driver is the issue. (May also be related to the motherboard's SATA controllers, but that usually hangs on a different message, like "waiting for boot UUID..." or "still waiting for root device".) - - - Good luck! fixed it. something was wrong with chameleon. rebooted with cd, used uinstaller to install pc-efi v9 and rebooted without the cd, and all was well! Haha, ok. Good to know all's well. I left the reply window open, came back to finish, and you'd already resolved the issue. Anyway, I'll keep my earlier post up for future notes. Happy Hackintoshing! ;-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148116-a-dark-screen-appears-to-tell-me-shutting-down/#findComment-1050127 Share on other sites
