Need help in changing resolution in boot file or just get booting to a resolution working

Ok. I read a lot about changing the resolution. I was unsucessful. Even when trying to boot with the changed resolution. I even had a friend try to figure it out. He edited the boot file and rebooted. It would not start up. Now I am back to normal again.

The only thing I did I manage to get right is making it faster by deleteing AppleTPMACPI.kext. I was soo proud of myself. I am a newb of course. New to VMWare and OSX.

Back to the resolution. Just from booting it to "Graphics Mode 12800x800x32" it did not work. Nor adding the @60. It still goes back to 1024X728.

Here are my laptop specs

HP dv5000z

Turion 64 ML40

ATI 200M

Now I remember reading something about th 200M but I wasn't sure I had to make a change there before I work on the graphics mode.

Thanks in advance. I am new here so hi to everyone! I look forward to learning the ends and out of this OS!

I've got the same problem. Laptopscreen does 1200x800, but Mac OS X 10.4.6 x86 won't go into that resolution. If I select '?video' during boot, there's a whole list with supported resolutions, but it does not include 1200x800. Setting "Graphics Mode"="1200x800x32" at boot won't do any good, nor does setting it in com.apple.Boot.plist. Choosing any other resolution from the list does change my resolution. It seems that the VMWare driver/bios does not support setting that resolution.

Any ideas on how to get it working?
