cronnos
Hello everyone. After messing with a HP hackintosh for a while, I bought a used Macbook Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz with a broken DVD drive. Everything else works perfectly. My problem is that I cannot get the original install disks to work. It seems the Mac doesn't recognize the disks when I install them on my external DVD drive. Any other disk I put on the drive is read perfectly. Here is what I do: I put the install disks, turn the computer off and when I start it holding the C key down (to force to start from the disk). Nothing happens. It hangs on the blue screen for a while, and then it goes to the login screen. Any ideas are welcome... Stylez
turn on your macbook and press the "OPT" key (should be ALT). then you get a boot menu showing all available drives. choose your external drive and go on if you press C, you force your macbook to boot from the internal optical drive (which is broken as you said) opt key: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/147611-macbook-not-reading-install-disk-from-external-dvd-drive/#findComment-1050219 Share on other sites
