I have an Intel Atom 230 in my webtop (see detailed specs in sig) which is running 10.5.6. Vanilla install, chameleon bootloader. In "About this Mac" It is seen as "Unknown" and isn't shown in the hardware overview in System Profiler. I have changed the About this Mac strings with osx86tools , but its obviously still not recognized in System Profiler, is there a way for the OS to actually recognize the CPU?

Thanks.. :)

Though the processor is not recognize by mac , u will get full utilization from the processor , don't mind it!

Mac Hardware database dosnt have Atom processors included because Apple Computers don't use Atom

Processor!

thanks <_< , I knew I would get full utilization from the processor, just would love it to be recognized as an Atom, I suppose I am quite fussy... Is there a way to add it to the Mac hardware database?

Would be willing to do a guide. I have the 330 & trying to put the retail version on it. Everything I have tried so far has failed..

Thanks.

While having the processor show up as Unknown in "About This Mac..." may not be a big deal, but in System Profiler there is no entry for Processor Name. Many applications use this to determine if the computer is PPC or not. In the event that it is not defined, it is assumed PPC. This is an issue with Silverlight and even the Mac OS Installer. I deploy to other drives for testing hackintoshes from this computer, but since it does not specify intel, the intaller puts unnecessary PPC.kext files on the system. If anyone knows a fix for this issue, please post it here.

In addition, it seems to be specific to non core 2 duo processors, or simply my Core 2 Quad q9550. If I put my Core 2 Duo E7500 in there, it shows us as Core 2 Duo just fine. ???
