ylloree
hi guys, this is my first time install for the osx86 on my aspire 4710 using iatkos i5. i was able to make it running but i'm having problem on my screen resolution. my laptop is on a 1280x800 on the vista and now on the osx it's 1024x768. i manage to look for information on how to fix it by adding these lines on the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist file <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>"Graphics Mode"="1280x800x16"</string> <key>Boot Graphics</key> but when i looked on the file restriction of this file, it's a read only file with the root as the only user with permission. then i try to "su" but now it's asking for the root password. i don't remember in giving any password on my account. kindly help on the root password and how to fix my screen resolution. thanks ..... by the way, my video card is ATI Radeon HD 2300 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/147476-root-password/ Share on other sites
raziiq
try 'alpine' or 'dottie' as a password for root. One way is to copy the file on the Desktop , modify the file and replace the file to its original position and then fix permissions. raziiq
try this 1. From the Finder's Go menu, choose Utilities. 2. Open Directory Utility. 3. Click the lock in the Directory Utility window. 4. Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK. 5. Choose Enable Root User from the Edit menu. 6. Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields, then click OK. Above is from Apple's website. After enabling root you wil have full control over the mac but be careful about using root.
