throttlemeister
Hi all, First post and unfortunately because I can't figure out how to get my network going. I think I have hundreds of threads already (search is my friend), but none took me any closer to the solution. I just got me a new laptop, a Acer TravelMate 7730G. Nice piece of hardware, and I got everything working with OSX just fine. Except the darn network. - Wireless. This laptop comes with a Intel 5100 b/g/n card. As far as I could tell, this card is not supported under OSX. Fortunately, the internal wireless comes in the form of a mini-PCIe card. So, I replaced it with an Asus WL-270N. This card has the Broadcome 4328 chipset, which is the same as the Apple Airport Extreme. The Asus card is reported to be supported, but no matter what I try, I can't get it work. I can't even get it to recognize its presence in the system. (mind you, it works just fine under Windows) -LAN. This laptop comes with a Broadcom 5674M gigabit interface. The threads on here are not clear wether or not the 57xx series are supported/working, but I can't seem to get this thing to work either. This is very annoying. Obviously, there isn't much use of the system if it is impossible to connect to the Internet or any network. Could someone help me out please? throttlemeister
Anyone? Please? I just checked, and my wifi card states bcm94321mc. This is the same as the Apple Airport, and it just be recognized. But why doesn't it work? It does show up when I do a PCI scan with X86tools. splonk
Have you enabled it under System Preferences > Network ? If Airport does not appear in the left sidebar, then you should click on the + button underneath. The system should report a new device under Airport and once you click Apply, you should be ready to configure Airport. throttlemeister
It doesn't allow me to. I can only pick VPN, PPPoE and "6 to 4". It just doesn't recognize my card being present. It works fine under Windows, and a PCI bus scan under OSX will show it is there, but OSX won't do anything with it. throttlemeister
Ok, I installed a kext from Chun-Nan to update the PCCard and PCI family. This showed me a mention of the 4328 during boot -v. Once. Now it just hangs after "BSD root: disk1s2, major 14, minor 6". I also tried boot -v cpus=1, but then it stops even sooner. I feel I need these kexts to get WiFi working on this laptop, but with it it won't boot. Any suggestions?
