Mebster
Hi, I've had my OSX86 running a week or two now but I can't get the sound to work. I can't say I’ve tried anything because I just don't know where to start. I've read about making changes to kext file or something. Not sure what they are. I've looked around but to be honest have found nothing. I have a Dell and when I normally install Win XP from the installation cd provided with the pc I then have to install the audio drivers separately. Weird as if I use my other (if you know what I mean) Win XP Pro cd it installs the audio drivers. I don't know if that matters. I've tried helping loads of people out so am hoping someone will take the time to help me out with this problem of mine. My config is: Dell Dimension 5100 Intel P4 HT 3.4ghz, Windows XP Home SP2, Western Digital 250GB Sata Hard drive and Seagate 160GB ATA, 1GB ram, Video and audio are integrated Intel ones - Intel 82801GB ICH7 - High Definition Audio Controller [A-1] PCI (i think thats the audio thing) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14725-no-audio-help/ Share on other sites

There are external USB audio devices you can use to get sound in and out that will work natively with OSx86. Its a desktop so it should be an easy an inexpensive thing to do. With a laptop, its awkward because you'd have to lug around the external adapter and headphones and/or speakers. Mebster
Thanks for you're help. I just don't really want to go around buying stuff for my OSX side since I’m not sure if I’m really going to be using it all that often. I'm a windows user and this was just a test to see if I like it. Also if I go a buy something, there's no guarantee it's going to work with the OSX. Does anyone have any other ideas?
