I have been a mac user since college which was about 12 yrs ago. Due to the cost of a new mac I decided to build one. Here are my specs: gigabyte ga-e7aum-ds2h nforce 9400, 2gigs ram, 640gig sata harddrive, eide dl-dvd. I have put Vista on it and so far I can say that the graphics on the motherboard are great. Full HD playback is no problem and the 7.1 surround works great also.

My question: How do I turn this into a hackintosh? I have tried iDeneb 10.5.5, Kalyway 10.5.1, iAtkos and even patching my own legal copy of Leopard.

The closest I have come to booting into Leopard after a full install is with iDeneb. I go through the whole install process and then when the machine reboots into the grey apple screen with timer below it the computer brings up the black box in the middle of the screen and states the computer needs to be restarted.

Am I not using the correct kernel, the correct patch, etc? Has anyone had the same issue and if so how did you fix it?

Thanks

I just realized I should have put this in a different section considering its an installation issue and not so much a hardware issue. My bad.

Try this thread:

Looks like you will not be able to boot until you update to 10.5.6 and use a dsdt file. Easiest ways would be to use the iPC_OSx86. Minimum patches & Vanilla kernel should work fine. Just read the thread.

Glad to see someone from LB. I'm from HB.

Thanks for the link. I checked it out and there is some good info about the board. I have Vista running fine. In fact I am really impressed with the capabilities of the on board graphics.

HB huh? right on. I have few friends in HB.

I can't even get a working install. I get as far as rebooting and then it gives me th black screen and tells me to restart. I am laying off of the install for now and just watching how other people are doing their installs. I have made about 25 coasters from dvd distros that don't help.
