asdfasdfasdfasdfasdf
I am running an Intel DP35DP motherboard with an Intel 2.4 Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Q6600 processor. I was running my hackintosh perfectly fine, with 10.5.2 Kalyway, kabyl kernel. Reboot and sleep worked, or so I thought. I hadn't yet figured out the sound, but that was all that was missing. My computer was sitting idle, and so it self induced sleep mode. When I went to wake it up, I got nada. A push of the power button yields no response at all from the system - no lights or anything. I unplugged power for 15 minutes, reset the CMOS, unplugged all unecessary devices (hard drive and dvd drive) - still nothing. I had another power supply from my other computer, so I tried that and got more nothing. The only thing that happens is every few seconds the fans will spin for a fraction of a second like they usually do when the motherboard gets power, although not quite as long. I suspect my motherboard is shot, but I can not believe something as simple as sleep could have caused this. Has anyone else out there seen any similar problems or behaviors? Is there any hope besides a new motherboard? Thanks. ~ BlurKing
I got that problem twice before, and the first time I shifted the hard drive and CD/DVD drive wires around. the second time was solved by removing and putting back the RAM... hope this helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/146805-sleep-caused-computer-to-no-longer-turn-on-help/#findComment-1040689 Share on other sites
Michael-on-a-mac
You can check to see if it is your drives causing the issue by disconnecting them and seeing if your mobo will post. If not, even after a cmos reset, could be the mob, ram, gpu, or proc. (Sounds like you already checked the psu) you can also remove the gpu to eliminate that as a failure point but you wont see the post screen just here it beep at you. asdfasdfasdfasdfasdf
Update: I removed everything from the motherboard except the processor, then I popped a ram stick back in, but the motherboard still did not post. Pushing the power button still gives me absolutely no response. I even switched ram slots, but it didn't matter. I plan to send the motherboard back. Thanks for the responses.
