Yes sure thing and thanks taking for your time:)

Theres more to the bios mod than just not having to boot with cpus=1 and more info here

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...%20132&st=0

and also bios mods here

http://osrom.net/biosmod/

I'm sorry but my motherboard isnt in that list. Its a P5ql-e mobo a p43 chipset and also i will only try a modded bios as my last resourse.

(Only if its sure it will work)

I know, but when they started doing that, all that was done was removing CPU aliases to allow multi-core hackintoshes to boot with all cores working. And that was the sole purpose of modding your BIOS.

I guess the BIOS files at the osxcores site are only modded this way - as it says, the primary goal is to get OSX running.

If you like to experiment it's better to use a bootloader that supports DSDT override - then you don't have to flash your BIOS every time people find something clever to do with DSDT and you don't have to worry about bricking your motherboard.

Tiran:

With this tool you can mod and patch your BIOS under Windows on any computer, you just need the BIOS file from ASUS to do it.

Be careful.

I don't wanna patch my bios cuz i even dont have a floppy drive to recover it , I just wanna know where the problem is.

Also when i type cpus=1 i get:

Bla...Bla...Bla................................................................

APPLEACPICPU: ProcessorApicId=1 LocalApicid=0 Enabled

APPLEACPICPU: ProcessorApicId=2 LocalApicid=1 Enabled

APPLEACPICPU: ProcessorApicId=3 LocalApicid=2 Enabled

APPLEACPICPU: ProcessorApicId=4 LocalApicid=3 Enabled

Bla...Bla...Bla................................................................

This can be found in the screenshot i posted in the first page.

If it does I'm sure you can solve everything from there

Okay its meant to boot retail dvd, but try it with your dvd, after you get to darwin boot prompt swap cd for your dvd. Press enter for default

(you might have to type f8) you should see your dvd listed press enter cross fingers

So first i'll boot with the cd you gave me and then swap the cd with my DvD, Noyhing else.

Yep, if that don't work I think your only option is to get a different distro or install on a different computer so you can mess around with kexts etc.

Couldn't agree more about using DSDT.aml with bootloader rather than patching bios. "no risk involved"

The problem is getting osx to boot in the first place, at least in this situation. lol

Any luck with that grub.iso Tir@n Inside?

I booted with my DVD and at the darvin boot count i put the cd you gave me. I dont know if it is correct.

It just hangs at this screen. Please tell me if it is correct. What order should i follow: DvD->Cd or cd->DvD.

Blease give me a more detailed guide.

The other way around cd first then dvd

What should i type there?

put in the cd let it boot

you should get a screen that says darwin bootloader or something like that press enter

then you should get boot prompt at which you just press enter for default

if nothing comes up press f8

at which point you should see your dvd listed as a boot option, you may need to use boot options like -v or cpus=1 but just try it first

When i put the dvd i only get to this screen. What should i do. Is there something wrong. When i put the cd in windows i see another image into the boot folder.

I dunno I'm stuck at that point, but someone has started a thread for p5q mobos

Yes !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks I finally did it with a modded bios but sound and ethernet are not working. Do you know if there is a driver for Atheros AR8121/8113/8114 ethernet controller.
