ladooee
I was just wondering if booting off eSATA is possible. Or if that doesn't work, has anyone tried USB booting? My internal HDD is pretty much full and I want to purchase and eSATA drive, because of its fast speed, and boot Mac off it. 93bh
It will work. I did try booting to Windows 7 from eSata. (Remember: it acts like a Hard Drive, but it's eSata.) ladooee
Is there anything special you needed to do? P.S. Is booting Mac possible? LoLL
Yes, i'm using an eSata HDD to boot leopard. The eSata port is managed by a jmicron SATA/IDE chip associated to ICH9R. My SATA contollers are set to use AHCI. All my OSX partitions are on external eSATA drive. good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/146071-is-booting-off-esata-possible/#findComment-1036508 Share on other sites

Sata and esata are almost the same, infact i think they are same.. and yes my asus p5k-e boots leopard from esata, no issues.. make sure its set to ACHI or IDE, RAID is foun will not work. My Hakintosh is running perfectly, better than and macs or macbooks, maybe NOT as fast as a Macpro me thinks.
