igy Posted April 10, 2006 Author Share Posted April 10, 2006 the thing is that i need to save the file i am making these changes to make the nvidia extensions work by editing etc/rc so i do the modification and then ctrl x , it asks me if i want to save the file i say yes and then nothing happen i am still stuck in nano ??? mark7714 Posted April 10, 2006 Share Posted April 10, 2006 When you boot into single user there are a couple of commands you need to execute. OS X actually tells you what they are when the boot sequence finishes (it'll be the last bit of info above the prompt). It's fsck -fy (or something like that) and mount -uw (or, again, something like that). Don't use those commands excatly, just see what OS X says. igy Posted April 10, 2006 Author Share Posted April 10, 2006 i did that but i have the feeling each time that nano wont let me modify anyt system file am i doing it right i am booting , hiting F8 , typing -s then after localhost:/root i am typing nano ...... ???? would it be better to boot in safe mode and then enter the terminal ?
