Hi again, lot of time that I don't check the post.

Has someone Could solve some of the issues (wifi/sound/video card)?

For my part not achieved anything.

For Wifi use usb pen..is the only solution! For video card the problem of the Black Screen is the native resolution of the Display...1366x768 is NOT supported by Leopard...and we need to delete NVDAResman... but in this way we no have QE/CI...

It looks like I audio issue may be resolved by VoodooHDA:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...40&start=40

http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/

Also, has anyone been able to change their resolution? I have tried getting 1366x768 to work with no luck. My resolution is stuck at 1024x768. I would like to at least have widescreen... If you have this working, please post your steps!

Thanks...

Well I was able to at least get my resolution set to 1280x720. Had to set graphics mode to 1366x768x32@60 (Don't forget the @!).

VoodooHDA 0.2.2 works great and provides full sound.

Any luck on QE/CI?

Hi Jason T! No luck with QE/CI, and I think is impossible to get QE/CI because Leopard doesn't support 1366x768... We have to hope for support on 10.5.7 or Snow Leopard!

Or we can try with an app to get correct resolution....or with an external monitor!

Thanks for the VoodooHDA! They works perfectly!!

Hi everybody, my english is not the best but, I think you'll understand me.

First of all I've just been registered in the forum because I'm using an Asus G50VT also.. I was trying to install iATKOS but I couldn't, so I found this thread..

by now i'm downloading the IPC and while I'm doing this, I've been reading all the thread and I've a couple questions..

amm, I'm a graphic designer and musician, so I'll try to install the Adobe Suite, Maya and Ableton also.

But I was reading about the QE/CI problem, do you guys think that would be a problem while I try to use this software??

it would be great if I can install leopard with the best video performance..

For the sound I'm not very worried because I'm using a M-Audio Fast Track USB external soundcard, and in the box says that is compatible with mac also.

about the wireless well that's too bad, but I'm ok using an ethernet conection

well I hope that I can download the IPC as soon as possible..

thank you for this thread, it's very helpful

cheers!

Hi all,

I found it: http://aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi?boa...amp;thread=509#

I couldn't try it couse i'm studying! May be this weekend i will do!

If someone can do something before, please tell us if it works or not!

jOinathan could you install leopard? About your answer, i have not idea, i never use these software!

Hi Rury

Well I had a couple problems, but finally I could install leopard on my laptop..

I've my fast track audio working, ethernet, 1280x720x60 res, no QE

I've followed the instructions for the GFX String, and if I dont delete the NVDAResman I get a black screen, but if I connect an external monitor, I get image, but as a slave monitor, with out any menu, just the background image.

Hi, Well I was using ableton and I realized that the performance was not the same as on windows

so I had to fix the cpus=1 "fix" because I needed both of my cores.

I dont know if you are able to fix that, but for those who doesn't

here is the solution

DSDT_Patcher1.0.1e

http:// chameleon . osx86 . hu /file_download/22/Chameleon-2.0-r431.pkg.zip

NOTE: copy the url and delete the spaces, between chameleon osx86 hu, this is because for any reason the admin doesn't allow that direction

1.-download both files

2.-run DSDT Patcher (follow instructions)

3.-a dsdt.aml file will be created in the same folder of DSDT Patcher, move the file to your /root

2.-install Chameleon

3.-delete, or change your "cpus=1" flag to cpus=2 is the same

4.-reboot

and there you go

2 cores running your os x smoothly

Once I did that, I found this information of my system profiler

HARDWARE

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: MacBook Pro

Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1

Processor Speed: 2.19 GHz

Number Of Processors: 1

Total Number Of Cores: 2

L2 Cache: 3 MB

Memory: 4 GB

Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz

Boot ROM Version: MBP41.0073.B00

Serial Number: SOMESRLNMBR

I'm pretty sure it will work on any, but I may be wrong.

About the resolution, I think obliviux has the answer; I saw a post with his card information on aquamac's forum and his resolution apparently was 1366x768x60hz

I tried with DisplayConfigX and I had a system crash, it really made me mad because everything was working good I had already installed all the software.

by now I've written to aquamac maybe he will be able to help

  • 4 weeks later...

welp...

I still have my Asus G50VT-X1 and I love it! I really still want to get MacOS on here but don't know enough to troubleshoot and don't want to install it if everything isn't going to work (especially gfx/display and the dual cores).

It looks like it's been a month or so since the last post so just wanted to see if anyone has figured out a way to get this bumpin?! Hopefully Snow Leopard will be more compatible with these newer components right away and we'll be rockin' and rollin'!!!

Thanks to everyone who responded to my original post!

Hey guys, I can't believe you made ir work. I'm from Argentina, and I bought this laptop 2 months ago. I don't want to be annoying, but sometimes it seems like you're talking in Klingon to me. I really want to make a dual boot install in my computer. A year ago, I've tried almost evertything to make osX86 work in my old AMD64, with no success. Now that I have a g50vt-x5, I'm excited to make this work. It seems the only problem with no fix, is the intel 5100, and the Quartz Extreme. But, does any of you could guide me trough an installation with dual boot, to make this thing work. I'll be sincerely thankfull.

  • 4 weeks later...

Ok guys! Tested and working!

I get FULL support to QE/CI and full support to 1366x768! So we can have a real Mac! :P

This is what I have done:

1) Modded my Bios as explained in first page of this thread

2) Installed iDeneb 10.5.6 with this options:

- ICHx Fixed

- Apple SMBIOS 800

- Realtek R1000

- Battery Manager

3) Installed iDeneb 10.5.7 Combo Update

4) Downloaded and Installed this Nvidia Driver

5) Install this Modded NVinject with KextHelper (thanks to hdas)

6) ENJOY YOUR MAC :)

Just a note to anyone like me who installed OS X using IPC (without a modded bios), if you try the nvidia driver in Obliviux's 2nd post on this page, you'll get a message that 'your computer isn't supported', but you can still get it to work with IPC. Oh, and thanks a ton Obliviux, you made my life a lot easier when installing os x.

So here's how I got it to work. First off, you must be on 10.5.7. I did do something wrong, but all I know is that using this and Obliviux's modded nvinject I got a black screen. Then I restarted with the IPC install disk and customized it without installing the base system or anything, just the nvdarwin512mb and when it rebooted it fixed my resolution automatically and I now have QE enabled.

I'm guessing I only had to reinstall the nvdarwin because I tried the nvidia drivers for the wrong graphics card, but I can't test it now so if you do it like I did I can pretty much guarantee that it will work. By the way I'm using a G50vt-x5. Hope this helps some people!

Hi eoveem, I'm following your sollution to my g50vt-x5 (mine is a bestbuy one) and I would like to know wich 10.5.7 upgrade did you use. It was the same which oblivion wrote? (ideneb combo upgrade 10.5.7?) I'm willing to use iPC also, because I dont want to flash my bios I read about some people that do it wrong and freezes the notebook. So which 10.5.7 upgrade have you used?

One more question, I've got a 20GB free primary partition to install iPC, but when "Select Destination" screen appears, it is blank, with no options to select. I've tried to install with: free space and hfs+ partition, none of these showed the options (also tried switch SATA mode to "compatible" in BIOS setup) didnt work.

The macos Disk Utility shows some partitions (including my 20GB) but I cant erase/edit/create any partition.

Do someone have a ideia of what is happening?

Thanks.

Sure it helps.

Well I used the official apple update to get to 10.5.7. You install it just like normal, but after it reboots you have to put in the iPC disk and reinstall all of your drivers/fixes while making sure that the base system is not reinstalled.

As for the partition, you have to use the disk utility while on iPC (it's in the menu bar). Click on the partition that you're trying to install OS X on and reformat it as MAC OSX Journaled Extended. After that it should show up without having to change anything in the bios

Well about the 10.5.7 upgrade ok I understand it all right.

But I could not make Disk Utility manage the partitions (specially the free one that I want to install iPC)

these are my partitions:

the partition disk0s4 I want to erase and install with journal, I tried to erase, it shows the progress bar but continues the same name and same file system

10082009139.jpg

as you can see I cant click on verify/repair

10082009140.jpg

This is the info of disk0s4

10082009140.jpg

I tried to click on the disk and edit the partitions, but couldn't make anything.

The only thing that I didnt tried yet, is start one new scheme, because I havent burned all backup disks yet

10082009141.jpg

Finally the error messages I get when I clicked "verify" with the disk selected10082009142.jpg

just to add this to show that no options are listed in "Select a destination screen"

There is a more simple way to solve this problem! if it bails out saying 'unsupported system' (due to model identification string in system profiler reporting other than macpro), use these modified drivers with checks removed (or else use a /Extra/smbios.plist if using Chameleon2) ;-)

Well, if you erase your 20 gig partition and follow this guide (just for creating a leopard partition) then disk management will probably recognize it. Good luck!

Well, thanks one more time, now I'm installing soon I tell if I could complete ...

I was doing a stupid silly thing, I didn't knew that the installer only works in a journaled partition named "MacOSX", I didnt change the name of the partition to this so it never appear in Destination Screen....lol.

..well it is installed and darwin boot mngr also installed, but when I tried to boot at first time, it freezes

the last message is "using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers"

I tried to boot with "cpus=1 -v", but didnt worked.

The customization is exactly like Obliviux (except the fact that I'm installing iPC instead of iDeneb):

- ICHx Fixed

- Apple SMBIOS 800

- Realtek R1000

- Battery Manager

Perhaps its missing something at first boot...

Do someone knows whats happening?
