Using a iPC 10.5.6 PPF2 patched ISO, I am able to install and boot an osx86 install, but as soon as login window launches, the verbose boot goes away and it sits at black. My hard drive activity light continues to go for a bit. Here is my hardware config:

Alienware Area-51 (nForce 750i)

2.8ghz Intel Core2 Quad

512Mb NVidia 9800GT

8Gb RAM

500Gb SATA HDD

640Gb SATA HDD

on board ALC883 Audio and nForce ethernet

Installed with:

Voodoo kernel

NVidia inject 512Mb (tried NVDarwin 512Mb too, same issue)

nForce chipset and ethernet

ALC883 audio driver

I also tried another monitor just in case since my 1920x1080 display does weird things to video feeds sometimes.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Anyone have any ideas? Is this to do with the driver/driver config as it pertains to the iPC installer? Is it possible to install the graphics driver manually, using failsafe graphics initially and then booting in (which I was able to do) to install the drivers by hand?

What I ended up doing (after trying a manual install and config and failing) is search a whole bunch more. Google "NVinstaller+v.52.pkg" and install it. Couldn't be easier and it worked flawlessly. Now only if nForce wasn't such a pile with kernel panics every 10 minutes...
