Mebster
I've got Bulldog broadband and they gave me a Thomson SpeedTouch 330 USB modem with the installation cd, which has drivers for PC and Mac use. The modem works fine in my Win XP side but when I try and install the drivers on the OSX side something weird happens. I am able to install everything fine and then am required to restart the pc which I do so. Upon login in there is almost no signs of the installation. Only thing I can find is a diagnostics tool in the speedtouch folder in applications. The modem is not recognised and running the network wizard (or whatever it's called) gets me no where. I've download the latest Mac drivers but same problems repeats itself. The USB is read because, well the modems lights blink red (does this when there is an error) and the USB pen works also. I'm at a loss. Anyone out there knows how to resolve this issue or has been able to already. Fuzzlet
The drivers are for PPC mac, NOT x86 mac. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14421-major-modem-issuss-thomson-speedtouch-330/#findComment-92865 Share on other sites
Mebster
Do you have the same modem? I think I understand. Is PPC the old type of macs (IBM kind)? Is there any way of making it work? Please help cz its a real bummer without the net on the OSX side. Thanks! Fuzzlet
No. I don't have that modem. You're best bet is to buy a modem that provides ethernet connection to your computer, then you'd only need to worry about a working network card. That's not very hard to get now. Mebster
Are there any other ideas floating around to make this work before I have to buy an Ethernet modem which might or might not work? Has anyone made it work with this modem. It seems to be a popular modem in ebay. martinjjw
I have this modem too. AFAIK there is no way of getting it to work on X86 Mac OS. I bought a Netgear DG815 router and use that instead, it works a treat.
