Enabling the OS Start Up Screen

Ok, I got the VIAATA issue fixed, thanks to Sherry Haibara. But for the boot manager, I don't see the following string:

 

<string>-f</string>

 

This is what I see in Terminal:

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>-v</string>

<key>Boot Graphics</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>10</string>

 

Should I remove the "-v"? Thanks for any help you are able to provide.

I had the same issue. I removed the "-v" from the com.apple.Boot.plist

Remove -v and if you only boot os x remove the timeout key and string.

I dual boot with Windows XP and Server 2003, so can I still keep the time out string and remove the -v? Thanks

yes. you can keep the timeout string and remove the -v. my shuttle xpc has triple boot, 10.4.3 jaspatch final, 10.4.5 and my own stripped down verion of xp. all with darwin bootloder.
