Has anyone managed to get 10.4.4 and above to run properly on the ASUS P5VD1-X motherboard? Hard disks access is very slow. It was working fine under 10.4.3. The VIAATA extension from 10.4.3 does not work on 10.4.4+ and when it is loaded the disk cannot be accessed at all.

Does anyone have a work-around???

I just got this motherboard working today, and while it boots to the logon screen, USB doesn't work so I can't do anything. During startup there's a lot of messages about "USBF a transaction is taking too much time" or somehting like that.

What do I need to do to get USB working on here? Chipset is VIA PT880Ultra/8237R. Also, no idea if ethernet works yet.

EDIT: Ethernet, USB, and my Chaintech AV710 soundcard do not work. But I plugged in a PS/2 keyboard and was able to log in and do stuff, just no mouse sucks.

Update for me, I've since gotten 10.4.8 working on here. No sound at the moment, since the built-in didn't work so well in OS X, and sucks in Windows for games, so I have a Soundblaster Live in there now which isn't supported in OS X. Might get a XMOD.

But now I have the following configuration and problem:

2x WD 150 GB SATAs in RAID 0 config which currently has my Windows XP partition, and a separate P-ATA Seagate 80 GB drive for Hackintosh.

Whenever I boot OS X, it sees the 2 SATA drives, but thinks they're unformatted and wants to know if I want to format them (NO!). So, it's seeing TWO physical drives, instead of the ONE logical RAID device.

I just installed this NTFS-3G/MacFUSE thing, but now all it does is try to mount the first disk as a 150 GB emtpy NTFS partition. I quickly eject it since I don't want to destroy my RAID data.

Any ideas?

BUMP

I finally got Leopard installed after many many many tries with various distros and burned DVDs. I had kept getting "basesystem package failed to verify" everytime, but this time with kalyway 10.5.2 it worked!

However, on boot it would immeadiately autoreboot. I had to use movevideodrivers, and also specify sleepkernel.

Current problems:

The Intel8254x driver works well enough to get an IP, but it won't work for any data transfer. It even locked the system up on me once. Looking for a fix for that...

And the NVInject tool on the DVD didn't work for my 8600GTS. So going to try scottdangel's installer.

EDIT. That didn't work either.

So I've got a half working system.
