OK it appears that you have (Please confirm if true)

Intel 915G Express chipset on MOBO

40GB SATA HDD

AD1981B Audio codec

Intel GMA 900 integrated GPU

Broadcom 5751 onboard LAN

Is your DVDRW a SATA or PATA (IDE) device?

What have you got set in BIOS for SATA mode?

my dvd+-rw is Sata

the details

I have got

Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller [NoDB] PCI

Linksys Wireless-G PCI Network Adapter with SpeedBooster [NoDB] PCI

Analog Devices AD1981B

Maxtor 6Y080M0 80GB

Motherboard Chipset Intel Grantsdale-G i915G/GL/GV

What about your BIOS settings?

What SATA parameter setting options do you have in BIOS? Do you have an AHCI option?

Have you got your BIOS settings as follows (assuming you have the following or similar options)

CPU Internal Thermal Control [AUTO]

Limit CPUID MaxVal [DISABLED]

Enhanced Halt State C1 (C1E) [DISABLED]

Execute Disable Bit [ENABLED]

Virtualization Technology [DISABLED] Does not appear to make a difference whether ENABLED or DISABLED.

Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology [DISABLED]

ACPI Suspend Type [s3 (STR)]

ACPI APIC Support [Enabled]

I looked for AHCI option I didn't find anything

and the other the same

What options DO you have for SATA mode........?

Sorry my DVD+-RW is Pata

My HD is Sata

and in the option on the Pata/Sata I have got ON/OFF

Try both settings......see this thread for OptiPlex GX280.......also post #3 in this thread.......
