I recently built my first 'hackintosh', in it I had an old eVGA 7600GT, an Intel core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz processor, 2 WD 1TB drives, and a Gigabyte GB-EP45-DS4P. Ran well out of the box; however, audio needed patching and one of my engineering programs, Matlab, would not run because of a Java error, but this is most likely not germane to the mainboard. I am planning on upgrading my video card to an eVGA 9800GTX in doing so I need to change the mainboard. After reading the 10.5.2 HCL I am planning on upgrading to the Asus P5E Deluxe. My question is, does anyone use this board, would you suggest it and did it truly work OTB. Any comments on the 9800GTX are also welcome.

Thank you,

Sam

I am running the Asus P5e MOB - Asus En8800gt/512mb Vid card - Intel core2 E8400- 3.0mghz over clocked to 3.8mgh- OSX 10.5.6. I think it is a very good board setup for overclocking and running OSX. The only thing I have had to do was change a couple settings for the network card. I first installed 10.5.1 and have done updates from Mac site. Running great...

I just completed my first hackintosh over the Xmas break. I'm using an Asus P5E-Deluxe, E8400, 4 gig of Corsair DDR2-1066 RAM, and a GeForce 7300GT video card. Setup was a breeze with Kalyway 10.5.2. The only additions/changes I had to make was the NVInject video hack that I used here:NVidia Fix

and the Rosetta_Translate_Fix:Rosetta Fix for some random system crashes. And stupid me, after messing around and killing the install, when I re-installed Kalyway 10.5.2, I forgot the audio driver. So I had to download this installer for the AD1988B kext to restore sound. Now it's golden. I know I can overclock it pretty well, but I'm still running the stock cooler until I can get into town and pick up an Arctic Cooler 7.

Special thanks to this link: for the Azalia Kext

and afiser for these instructions as well: P5E Audio Fix Thread
