Dell Inspiron 530 - generic.iso (boot-123) - 'kextd[48] root filesystem read-only'

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 PC.

I'm trying to boot into OS X Leopard using the generic.iso boot-123 disk (using the BOOT-KABYL-BUMBY.zip resulted in errors earlier on in the boot process).

The installation hangs at:

kextd[48] root filesystem is read-only.

or if I change SATA mode in BIOS from IDE to RAID, it hangs at 'waiting for root device.'

I'm not sure what to do here, I would really like to go a bit further than this.

The Inspiron 530 uses a Foxconn G33M motherboard which is the G33 & ICH9R chipsets.

From perusing this forum, it looks like others have got an Inspiron 530 working... I can't.

Any ideas? Thanks.

i'm sorry i can't help but i just installed on this using leo4all v3 and i could only get it to work under the IDE sata setting, perhaps try a different build of Leopard?

now back to getting my sound working =.=;

I tried the same method. Took too much time to setup for my taste. I use the normal old hack. I used iATKOs 4i for this machine, works well.

You need hacked IOAHCIFamily.kext and AppleAHCIPort.kext for "RAID" sata mode.

For 10.5.6 I had to replace AppleACPIPlatform.kext from 10.5.5.

I attached my kext files including my hacked AppleHDA.kext.

I installed using IPC 10.5.6

Select at customization

ICHx Chipset driver (if you don't install this it hangs waiting for root volume)

Intel Pro 100 /VE driver

ALC888 sound driver

PATCHED USB drivers

Voodoo bootloader

seatbelt kext

select -f option on first boot

Default setup (F2) w/ No floppy drive

Also download and install AppleIntel82566MM.kext to get onboard NIC to work. I am writing this post on that system with the onboard NIC
