Paul Gleeson
I'm trying to install 10.5.6 on my ASUS P5W DH board running of a USB drive. I have a very stable 10.5.5 on the same drive. Here is what I have done so far. Installed Chameleon 1.0.12 as the boot loader (MBR) Used the DSDT GUI to create a dsdt.aml file in the root directory (Do I need to do anything else?) After this 10.5.5 still works fine. Then I run the 10.5.6 update (from a dmg file 377mb) with the script running to remove the AppleIntelCPUPoerManagement kext. Install finishes OK. Reboot using -v -x or any combination leaves the system waiting for disk 0s1 (not my USB disk) So I try using rd=disk3s1 in the boot options but this just freezes too. Any ideas? Thanks Paul Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/142410-1056-on-asus-p5w-dh/ Share on other sites

Thanks Paul Hi Paul, I don´t know exactly what your problem is, but one thing I know. The 10.5.6 update has big Firewire and USB Issues on our board (asus p5w) Many people who updated lost firewire and usb ports. In my case Firewire is working, but I lost some usb ports, the other port are runninh in usb 1.1 mode only. When you boot from a usb drive you have a bunch o problems at this time. I would recommend to stay on 10.5.5 till this issues are solved. Many users are waiting for a patch, but it seems to be not so easy... Best regards ! Paul Gleeson
Thanks Gary. Since I'm trying to install on a USB disk this might be the problem. I have my main 10.5.5 on a hard disk, and use my USB disk as a carbon copy. I may trying install on my hard disk and see if this helps.
