Jeremyreid
Hey, I would like to know what hardware I need to match the specs of the imac. Same ram, cpu etc... I would also like to know of any good supported wirelss cards aswell. Thanks, Jeremy Reid (Note: I know I posted it in the hardware forums but I noticed there was a post saying if I had any questions like this I need to post it here, so sorry if there is any confusion!) Synaesthesia
You can get anything that says it works in the HCL list -> http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.2 I suggest any of the popular Intel Motherboards, an Intel Core 2 Duo. Choose a graphics card on the list. Get a wireless card. I use the Asus WL-138G-V2. Here are the iMac specs. You can get any 20" or 24" or whatever monitor too.obviously. http://www.apple.com/imac/specs/ The rest you can choose for yourself - Hard drive, DVD Rom etc etc Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/142403-how-to-make-the-perfect-hackintosh/#findComment-1010260 Share on other sites

MaaseyRacer
You install them. Make sure you research your updates. If you do a boot 132 DFE install (use PCI EFI v9) then you can update to 10.5.5 with no problem. 10.5.6 will take the addition of a dsdt file. If you in the first post of the 10.5.6 forum there is a great link to handle everything you need. Everything other than system updates are usually good to just run and install. As far as hardware the HCL is out of date in some parts. Check out motherboards like Gigabyte P45 series. As far as CPUs do you really want it to match up? If so look at the Core 2 Duo E8400 and E8500. Those will get you close to matching. However, the Q6600, Q9400, and Q9550 would be good choices as well for a single processor desktop setup. Jeremyreid
Will these specs work? vbetts
Um, while I don't want to sound rude or anything, you can check yourself. There is the wiki, and there is also osx86 library to check compatibility. But, for the iso, there are some I can think of I would use. I just downloaded iAtkos, but then there's Ideneb, Leo4all, and I'm sure there are a couple more out there I can't think of. IPC Osx86 was just released, and from what I saw of it, it has the most options available. Zaap
Jeremy, the most critical item is the motherboard- that's the basis of any Hackintosh. Most everything else is just a matter of choice after that. (Graphic card choice is also critical). While the Intel DG31PR will work, (I've built several systems myself with it, all still going strong) I think Gigabyte P35 or P45 boards make for better Hackintoshes these days, especially if you want a more "perfect" Hackintosh, and access to more up to date guides. I haven't yet installed a DG31PR beyond 10.5.5, so if you want to be sure about 10.5.6 support, consult any and every DG31PR guide. Otherwise, look into Gigabyte P45 and any number of threads/guides around here. I wouldn't bother with any .iso that starts off at less than Leopard 10.5.4. Personally, I prefer nVidia cards over ATI, but that's just from using nVidia exclusively. No idea how well ATI cards work for OSx86. I wouldn't worry about matching the specs of an iMac or any other Mac either- OSx86 isn't really about matching Apple's specs, it's more about getting around using Apple hardware to run OSX. It's always going to require more work than an actual Mac. The benefit is it can cost a lot less, and you can actually do better performance wise than many of Apple's models.
