121fred
Hi all Made the silly mistake of testing ubuntu 8.04 by installing it to a usb drive thinking it would not affect my osx installs. Unfortunately it has installed grub or parts of it on both my sata internal osx drives which were working perfectly. Now I cannot boot from OSX at all. I have an ide drive with windoze on it and I can boot it using F12 at startup and select the win drive. I tried to select either of the osx drives and system stops at flashing cursor on one and loads grub menu from other. The grub menu only has unbuntu and windows options and one called other operating system which does nothing. I've tried to reinstall darwin boot loader using iatkos disk and it says it is done OK but still will not boot. Is there a way to get rid of this problem Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/142296-uninstall-grub-installed-by-ubuntu/ Share on other sites
phoenix789
try this when grub appears 1° type c this will leave you to the command line 2° type root ( 3° press tab this will show your disks 4° select the disk where you have osX ex: root (hdX, 5° press tab again this will show you the partition of that disk 6° select the one with osX ex: root (hdX,Y) 7° type enter 8° type chainloader +1 9° boot. if your osX partition is fine you should boot on it.
