michelsondl
ok, so my situation is a little different than some of the other tutorials I tried to look at to solve this, so here goes. I already had Server 2008 installed on my hard drive. Then I made a partition for OS X, installed using iDeneb 10.5.5, and everything worked fine. I had also been wanting to try out the current build of Windows 7, so I created another partition, and installed that. Well it turns out that 7 is like Vista in that when you install, it makes the computer not recognize any partitions except that one for Win 7. I used the Server 2008 disk to repair and now the Windows bootloader comes up, but only shows Win 7 and Server show up. In the Disk Managment in Windows, the OS X partition shows up, but isn't really recognized as anything. I looked on the iDeneb install disk, but it looks like it's not recognizing the partition either. Since I just installed OS X, I wouldn't be bothered by just reinstalling, but if there's an easier way to get OS X back, that would be great. Also, I wasn't sure if this belonged in the installation or post-installation forum, so please move if necessary, thanks. Gujal
If you boot with your iDeneb DVD and dont press any key, it should boot your installed OSX. michelsondl
It wouldn't boot that way. I've been working on this thing since I posted the first post, and I'm losing my mind now. I tried what I could to get osx to boot, and no luck. So then I used diskpart to delete the Windows 7 partition and the OS X partition. I thought I would be able to basically be back to square one, with just Server '08 on there, but apparently not. After deleting the partitions, I used diskpart to make a new partition for OS X, with id=af, but now when I try to install with the iDeneb disk, it sees the partitions on my hdd, but says they aren't mounted. I try to mount them and get an error. Trying to erase gives the error that the disk isn't mounted. I've checked the bios and nothing has changed since I successfully installed iDeneb a few days ago. I've tried using gparted, and it doesn't read the sata drives. I tried using an Ubuntu disk, and i can get it to boot using pce=nomsi atboot, but gparted won't let me make an hfs+ partition in Ubuntu. At this point I am out of ideas and google searches aren't turning up anything new. Any ideas? What really frustrates me is that I had OS X on there and running great before this. if nothing else works I'm just gonna buy another drive to run OS X on. phoenix789
i'm not sure if it helps but why not formatting with gparted in fat32 the partition you want to use for osX and then try to see if you can format it in hfs+ with your osX dvd. michelsondl
i'm not sure if it helps but why not formatting with gparted in fat32 the partition you want to use for osX and then try to see if you can format it in hfs+ with your osX dvd. I'll give that a try, but I have to do it with diskpart, not gparted. gparted doesn't see the sata drives. I don't think using fat32 will help anything though. It looks like ultimately the problem now is that the osx Disk Manager is saying that the partitions aren't mounted, and need a mount point to do anything, but when I try to mount, I just get an error.
