kyle c
Okay using iATKOS 5i on a Dell Inspiron B130/1300 I've gotten a successful Leopard install. The problem is upon reboot I get the gray apple screen with spinning for about a minute then my system restarts and will continue this process indefinitely. I believe it has to do with the wrong selected Customization items. If it helps I have selected: iATKOS v5i Main System PC EFI V9 AppleDecrypt SMBIOS-EFI-Air Disabler.Kext Graphics Update Intel-GMA950b Laptop Battery Broadcom 440x I believe the problem has to do with this but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys I've been trying to get this working for some time so I would be very greatful for some help. SirLancealot
I'm downloading iATKOS 5i right now and should have it tested out on my B130 very soon. It's my understanding that without certain patches, the B130 which has the Intel GMA 900 / 915 graphics chipset requires either a dongle / pin trick or an external monitor in order to get it to boot to the desktop. It might behoove us to take a fairly minimalist approach to this problem. I've read that there is a solution to the video problem which has to do with the Apple Integrated Framebuffer driver. Right now, you may want to try seeing if you can get into safe mode then boot into the desktop. Do you have the option where you can press F8 during the Darwin loading process? If so, you may want to verbose and safe mode with the '-v' and '-x' switches. Let us know if you see anything of interest that might indicate what's happening during initialization. I'm going to get busy burning then playing around with this copy of OS X in a few minutes. I'll have to overwrite my copy of Tiger that I just installed for the first time yesterday. I'll guess you could say that I got bored with it after having used Leopard so much at University so now I'm trying to see if I can get the whole shebang up and running. Let's get to work and see what we can accomplish here. There are certainly enough B130 users out there that would be just as happy as you and I to have some guidance with kicking around 10.5.5. Cheers and good luck. Regards, Sir Lancealot EDIT: PS - Post #2 of this thread regarding blue screens with the Intel GMA 915 chipset, has a link to the Integrated Frame Buffer driver here. Give this a shot. I'll be right with you in a few minutes after I burn this disc. I'll keep the thread up to speed as I make progress (fingers crossed). EDIT #2: Forget safe mode and all of that jazz, just follow my directions below and you should be well on your way! SirLancealot
I'm writing this from my iATKOS v5i install on my B130. It took a while to figure out, but once I had a few sessions of trial and error, the answer just hit me in the face. Here are the options that I used during my setup. Read through this before attempting installation as I selected only these options however others may work: Chameleon AppleDecrypt SMBIOS Enabler 9.2.0 Kernel ToH x86 ACPI Disabler.kext Graphics Update Intel GMA950 b System -> Intel SATA Laptop Battery Broadcom 440x First of all, I've been using the pin trick this whole time and haven't had the opportunity to test without it. The QE/CI options are so far not supported with the current setup, but I hope to have this corrected by the end of the night. I also am experiencing some strange issues with the system profiler indicating that I have a processor speed of 55.91Ghz... it is infact a 1.5 Ghz Celeron M overclocked to 2.0 Ghz. Airport works right out of the box. More to follow as I still have a lot of testing to do this evening. Cheers Sir Lancealot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/142209-iatkos-5i-on-dell-inspiron-b130-help/#findComment-1012001 Share on other sites
SirLancealot
Alright so I think I have just about everything working. I'm going to continue playing around to see how well things hold up, but for now I'd like to pass on a link that will help everyone to get full video and audio support out of their new Leopard installs. Follow the link to this thread and follow Sevan's instructions. Cheers! Sir Lancealot EDIT: Again, I am still using the pin trick that without a pin connecting pin 6 to pin 12 on the vga monitor jack, I would be unable to boot into the OS. I've been doing some reading and am on my way to testing out a few solutions regarding a modified kext of the frame buffer driver. Wish me luck! kyle c
Hey man I forgot to check the posts and did some experimenting on my on and found out some things you may want to know. I'm typing this on my Leopard B130 now with these options: PC EFI V9 Apple Decrypt EFI Air 9.5.0 Kernel Voodoo Stock ACPI Modified Disabler.kext PS/2 GMA 950a Laptop Battery Broadcom 440x These all work great but I still can't get sound and have been trying for 4 days. Also what is your boot time and is everything slow until you run it one time? I'm also posting a modified version of this on the post. Thanks again man and I'd appreciate the help on the audio. By the way I get full resolution with GMA 950a without any patches. By the way none of the audio links in Sevans guide work so if you could attach them or something it would be great! kyle c
Also if you select both GMA 950a and b and select EFI string Intel then you don't need the dongle Also if you select both GMA 950a and b and select EFI string Intel then you don't need the dongle Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/142209-iatkos-5i-on-dell-inspiron-b130-help/#findComment-1014918 Share on other sites
SirLancealot
Thanks for the heads up. I'll give the EFI Intel string a shot and hopefully will no longer be needing this pin in the laptop. I posted the audio fix earlier in a link to another thread here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...&st=0 Just download the Apple HDA patcher and the stac9200.txt file. Then drag and drop the txt file's icon onto the patcher icon and you're done! I'm also having some issues with sleeping, resetting and shutdown. Right now if I close the lid to the laptop and open it up again, the screen goes off but will not come back on. The only way that I have to fix that is to either close the lid, then when I open it, use the FN+Esc shortcut to hibernate then turn the computer back on. The process only takes about a minute, but it's rather annoying. I've also tried Insomniax to sleep the display and the system, but have had limited success. Any suggestions while I try to fix this matter would be very welcome! dgcaste
it usually is, if it's supported by the BIOS. look under SATA settings for your hard drives. if it's nowhere in there, chances are it's not supported by the chipset, and it's a moot point. get the install cd to start in verbose mode. I'm not quite sure how to do that since I don't have one on hand, but it's usually by typing "-v" at the darwin boot prompt. that way we have an idea of where it's locking up. emie
I wonder, is there a way to fix this issue, the one where you need to do a dual screen for it to work, and i wonder if you can do a software update for the mac os without it breaking? i don't mean updating the software its self, i mean the actual "software update" in mac Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/142209-iatkos-5i-on-dell-inspiron-b130-help/#findComment-1034607 Share on other sites
Evil20071
Doing the same. I'll make a note of the GMA 950 a and b for the video. I'm making a thread/story thing on it too. This helps me greatly. I'm having the issue of not getting to the installer on my b130 though.
