Hello, I have been trying to format my hard drive as a Mac OS x Extended Journal, but every attempt in the Disk Utilities comes out a failure.

I am using Kalyway 10.5.2.

I'm formatting it as a FAT-32 primary drive, but still to no avail. the Disk Utilities shows that it's dismounting the drive, erasing, then it renames my partition to disks04 MS-DOS every time.

I've tried partitioning in both XP and Linux, can some one guide me to what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

Try changing the partition ID to "af" (without the quotes). Use any partitioning program you like.

Welcome to the forum.

I don't really understand what you are saying, I'm using Acronis Disk Director, I should change the format to af? or name the partition af? Sorry for the inconvenience,

Try this:

create a primary partition with Acronic Disk Director, set it active (bootable) and

change the ID to AF (with Acronis), witch is hexadecimal and represents "ShagOS swap".

Now you can erase this partition with Disk Utilities and format as Mac OS X Extended Journal

hope, that helps
