Right, I need to boot OSX lep and Windows XP x64 from the same drive.

Now, I can only install OSX to a GUID parition, and I can only install XP onto an MBR partition.... So what do I do?

Is it possible to install OSX on the drive when it's GUID then somehow convert it to MBR so I can then install XP? :D

I had the same need and did it once. It's a pretty simple process. I used my usb hard drive with spare osx installation. Boot the system off the usb drive, restore osx installation from internal guid drive (disk utility) to an image file on usb disk. Then reformat guid disk to MBR, create partitions (max. of 4 primary on mbr disk) and restore osx installation from an image to new internal partition on mbr disk. Then all you have to do is to re-set the osx partition active and re-install pc_efi or chameleon. That's how i did it and no problems at all. Cheers!

You CAN install Leopard on an MBR disk, but it's slightly slower. Also, windows Vista x64 supports GPT (if you might be interested).

A tip: always have a boot-132 CD and a chameleon installer ready because after installing Windows or Linux on GPT your system won't boot unless you use boot-132 CD to load OS X and reinstall chameleon.

i am stuck in the same boat. i too wanted to dual boot my rig with OSX and XP but am finding out that it's a no go, as well. i have OSX as GUID and XP, after install, keeps spitting back and error about 'hal.dll' is missing or corrupted.

i'm thinking that i'll just say 'forget it' to the native install of XP and just use it virtualized in the meantime. i'm hooked on the speed of GUID so going back to MBR would be a silly thing to do. :)

Check this out, GUID/MBR hybrid in one single GID disk.
