I just swapped out my old IDE burner which burned one DVD on OSX fine for a new LG SATA DVD burner... It reads DVDS fine, it writes CDS but it won't burn DVDS in OSX.... I am not sure if it is defective or if I am missing kexts.... Does anyone have any ideas of what I should try?

I installed AppleIntelPIIXATA

This is my burner:

I have tried installing kalyway 10.5.1 and iATKOS 10.5.4 and the forementioned ktexts....

Disk utility says I have not enough space and disco says i have created a toaster when i try and burn a DVD+R

"get info" says the dvd is 1.3 MB big :(

This is mind boggling to me, surely there has to be a fix....

I am having the same issue and am a bit baffled. I can read and burn CD's, read DVD's, print a Lightscribe label but cannot burn a dvd.

Using - LG GH22LS30

Profiler Shows -

HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22LS30:

Burn shows 0kb available on disks when I attempt to burn

Disk Utility indicates that the disk inserted does not have enough space

If I get info on the disk in Disk Utility I get -

Device Name : HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22LS30 Media

These are new, blank discs. I have tried both DVD-R and DVD+R, both Memorex and Verbatim.

Any assistance would be welcome.

Groovyfish, I'm having the same exact problem with my LG drive. It's a GH22LP20, I think the main difference is that it's an IDE drive. I'm getting the same discrepancies in System Profiler and Disk Utility. If I use Toast 10 it claims burn support but then either gives me error messages when I try to burn or it begins and then causes a kernel panic. I don't know if you've tried, but I've notice I AM able to burn DVD+DL's in Toast, not sure about about Disk Utility. Did you ever find a resolution?

Same here. :D

HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N:

I've got it sorted out by installing "toast".

It took rather long for the size of file (burning 500+ mb took 15 minutes) so could easily be mistaken as an error, but at last, it turned out to be O.K.

I guess you guys out there having trouble, it's worth trying "toast".

Cheers.

P.S: It really works, I've checked 4 times to make sure it does. :D
