m16
I just swapped out my old IDE burner which burned one DVD on OSX fine for a new LG SATA DVD burner... It reads DVDS fine, it writes CDS but it won't burn DVDS in OSX.... I am not sure if it is defective or if I am missing kexts.... Does anyone have any ideas of what I should try? I installed AppleIntelPIIXATA Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141936-cant-burn-dvd-can-burn-cd/ Share on other sites
ugOSX
I see you have only 2GB but try this: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=127611 It allows the computer to use the 64 bits mode of your IDE controller. m16
This is my burner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827136152 I have tried installing kalyway 10.5.1 and iATKOS 10.5.4 and the forementioned ktexts.... Disk utility says I have not enough space and disco says i have created a toaster when i try and burn a DVD+R "get info" says the dvd is 1.3 MB big This is mind boggling to me, surely there has to be a fix.... ugOSX
1,3 MB? Are you sure it's not a floppy disk? Have you tried to burn in Windows? What do yo see in System Profile under Seria-ATA? m16
It burns in Windows. It looks correct in the serial ATA in system profiler - it says it supports burning... venerablechronic
Groovyfish, I'm having the same exact problem with my LG drive. It's a GH22LP20, I think the main difference is that it's an IDE drive. I'm getting the same discrepancies in System Profiler and Disk Utility. If I use Toast 10 it claims burn support but then either gives me error messages when I try to burn or it begins and then causes a kernel panic. I don't know if you've tried, but I've notice I AM able to burn DVD+DL's in Toast, not sure about about Disk Utility. Did you ever find a resolution? Robert_L
I found out that the problem is caused by a firmware bug in LG burners. Actually their implementation of the "ReadTrackInformation" command does not completely conform to MMC specifications. jumbochilli
Same here. HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N: I've got it sorted out by installing "toast". It took rather long for the size of file (burning 500+ mb took 15 minutes) so could easily be mistaken as an error, but at last, it turned out to be O.K. I guess you guys out there having trouble, it's worth trying "toast". Cheers. P.S: It really works, I've checked 4 times to make sure it does.
