grrOmp
Hey folks, Really enjoying my new dual boot abilities. It's great to be able to switch over to XP for Photoshop/Gaming and have OSX the rest of the time. There was, however, one problem I encountered in my travels yesterday: YOU CAN NOT USE AN UPGRADE VERSION OF WINXP WITH BOOT CAMP. THE EJECT KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD DOES NOT WORK FROM WITHIN WINDOWS SETUP. When Windows Setup asks you to insert the media from your previous version of Windows, you're absolutely stuck. Worse, it doesn't seem like there's an elegant way out of this once you begin the process. You quit setup, and it asks for a bootable disk drive. You force reboot, same thing. Option key doesn't give you the Boot Drive menu. I was lucky, in that I had a full version CD lying around, but I could see this causing a real hassle for someone without a full version. I've bug-reported this to Apple, with the hope that future versions of Boot Camp won't let you proceed to the reboot if you've inserted an Upgrade CD. Hope this saves someone the time I wasted yesterday afternoon. Ouch
To be fair it does specifically say in the instructions that you need a full version of xp. weldon
Some people have reported success using an external cd drive and pointing the installer to E:/ to find the files.
