Is this why my color can't be callibrated? because my core image is hardware? I want to adjust the color profile but it does nothing....i'm using ideneb 1.3 at the moment.

Tthe hardware means the chip on the board is doing the graphics works like it should the software would mean your CPU is doing the work the graphics card should be doing. BTW I have the same monitor it lets me calibrate it plus gives me the full resolution. How do you have it connected to the card DVI or VGA connector/cable? Also you want the cable connected to the primary DVI port it is the one closest to the motherboard.

thanks!! that did the trick...switched my dvi to the other port and now i can callibrate color and my mouse cursor looks normal (it was a blue color before)...

That is what I thought was going on seems quite common on these things strange part is if you have two monitors like I do then it lets you calibrate the both of them with no problem.

If have an Nvidia video card and was able to fix that by removing all NVxxxx and GeFxxx kexts, installed the Leopard Graphics update and then the latest NVDarwin.
