Qtrain
I have vista on one partition, iAtkos on the other (doesn't work). I want to uninstall OSX and darwin reformat the iAtkos partition so that I can use it with vista. I already tried booting with iAtkos install disc, reformating the partition to FAT, and then restarting without the disk. Upon startup, the vista partition isn't recognized, and the machine doesn't boot. So now I basically reinstalled the non-working OSX just so I can select the vista partition on the dual boot option, but I have no access to the other partition, and it's just an annoying thing to have to do every time I turn on the computer. Thanks for your help. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141560-how-do-you-completely-uninstall-darwin-bootloader/ Share on other sites
Sodin
Put in your Vista DVD and boot to it then use the automatic recovery option. nintenno
i believe you can download easyBCD and have it rewrite the Vista bootloader but i havn't used that in a while Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141560-how-do-you-completely-uninstall-darwin-bootloader/#findComment-1003771 Share on other sites
Gujal
All you have to do is once you go into Vista, make Vista Partition the active one. Then reboot. Once it successfully boots without going to Darwin bootloader, you can format that partition to NTFS or FAT32 under Vista To make partition active you can use Disk Management or use MBRFIX Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141560-how-do-you-completely-uninstall-darwin-bootloader/#findComment-1003913 Share on other sites
ianne
Thank you Gujal! I was trying to instal the SP2 in Vista, but it gave me an error and I found that a possible cause was the Darwin bootloader. Following your instructions I was able to boot with Vista bootloader instead of Darwin and then the SP2 installed without problems. I hope this can help someone else.
