swissmacuser
Hi I am using Intego VirusBarrier X5 10.5.5 Intego Menu 10.5.1 NetBarrierX5 10.5.3 NetUpdate 10.4.10 Personal Antispam X5 10.5.2 Yes, I am a Windows convert and am a little worried about viruses on my Mac computer. Here is the problem on my mac (Mac OS X 10.5.5): After the last update to the above versions VirusBarrier is giving me a hard time with eating up large amounts of memory and slowing my computer down, possibly by writing into virtual memory. It happened to me that in activity monitor I find the process "virusbarriers" about 4x when I start up, then over time it accumulates. So I found more than 60 copies of the process virusbarriers in activity monitor, every one eating up between 4 to 17 MB memory plus other intego stuff holding up memory. Without any active program (except for activity monitor and finder) the whole stuff uses active 2.8 GB of my memory! Holy {censored}! After a restart my Mac uses 0.6 GB. In the background there is also a lot of hard drive activity. If my suspicion is correct the Intego stuff read/writes/reserves 36 GB of virtual memory ! Help ! Im also a windows convert and had AV on my mac but it eats memory like crazy so i just unnistalled it and never had a virus. Its almost 2 years now with NO Virus. If your worried just disable autoscan and manually scan or uninstall it on your main drive, get a second drive with mac os and install AV which i have and scan the main drive from there. hecker
I don't mean to be rude, but it's your own fault for installing such garbage on your mac.
