DuBmastah
Ok, here's the point. I've been searching hours around for a solution to change darwin settings, forget it, there are none asaik. i know that many many many of you encounter this problem : you try to boot and welcome in windows bootloader. so you edited your windows boot.ini file in order to have the choice : windows or .. darwin (using most of the time chain0). then, after a short stop and go by windows bootloader, you're now into darwin and there begins the problem : darwin also gives you 2 choices !! (he never know you already made one). so if you choose win or if windows is set as a default, you're back into step 1 (again and again). suppose you choosed timeout=0 in the boot.ini file and that's a mess. now, here's the point : you definatly DON'T need the use of 2 bootloaders, just keep darwin, it's ok ! but how do i remove the windows bootloader then ? this is it : you don't even need to remove it. just follow those steps : 1) boot into windows 2) restore a normal boot.ini (remove the chain0 line and make sure the windows line point to the windows partition) 3) you also can remove chain0 from your root directory 4) set the MAC OSX partition to active ! (you can do that in different manners, personnaly i use acronis disk director, just don't forget to apply changes before you reboot) 5) reboot here you are : that's darwin that comes first now... and OSX should be the booting partition by default. if you choose to launch win xp, darwin will send you to the boot.ini you just restored and there will be no loop, windows will just boot ! works perfect for me : ideneb v1.3 (darwin chameleon) and windows xp pro. hope this will help. peace, DuBmastah Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141476-dual-boot-win-xp-leopard-solution-to-make-darwin-boot-the-system-you-want-first/ Share on other sites

Houbos
I can't believe my eyes, it really works with Kalyway 10.5.2 and XP Prodssional 32. I couldn't fix Vista Windoad.exe (automatic repair crashes), so tried XP. It's definitely the best and simplest solution. Thanks! Houbos, there is a possibility for you to boot vista also, fixing your BCD problems, or do a trial boot OSX, WINXP and VISTA (or even WINDOWS 7) using darwin as bootloader, just the same way. i had explanations in how to do so in this post : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=144153 i'm glad this could help you anyway peace, DuBmastah Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141476-dual-boot-win-xp-leopard-solution-to-make-darwin-boot-the-system-you-want-first/#findComment-1023236 Share on other sites
Houbos
DuBmastah: Thanks, I didn`t search enougth. Now I know that it`ll work also with Vista. I never knew what exactly Active partition means. I`m booting into Windows only when playing Games like GTA IV (twice a month), I`m real OSX switcher. :-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141476-dual-boot-win-xp-leopard-solution-to-make-darwin-boot-the-system-you-want-first/#findComment-1024867 Share on other sites
