BitterSweet
Hi guys, I know it's not really a big issue, but it's irritating me. MSN doesn't seem to work right for me on my newly bootcamped XP, where as it did work ok for me in XOM. I've formatted and reinstalled twice to avail. MSN Messenger 7.5, I can't set a display picture - it says it cannot load this file. Windows Live Messenger 8 (beta), won't sign in - it just sits there spinning. Wondering if anyone else had come accross this! Tom BitterSweet Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14118-msn-on-bootcamp/ Share on other sites
BitterSweet
Hmmm, Just uninstalled both, and reinstalled and still getting the same thing. So I'm reinstalling XP again, this time MSN goes on first after the drivers (needed for networking/internet!) and I'll see what happens. The main reason I'm putting XP on is so I can webcam with my family in New Zealand, if it doesn't work there's not much point heh. If it's working for you, or not just say yes or no or something, so I can get some feedback, and if necessary have a deeper look. Cheers y'all. nevermind1331
not sure if you have a mini or not, but the isight is not supported yet for macbooks and imacs, so you wont be able to webcam anyway. BitterSweet
I'm on an iMac 17" CoreDuo and I was webcamming fine with my XOM install using a USB Logitech webcam. joewen7
Have you tried aMSN? It does support webcam for MSN. It might render your XP useless, since you won't have a reason to use XP anymore. lol. Gollo
It has to do with problems with the dual core setup, i don't remember right now, google for it, but as far as i know, u should disable one of the cores to run it at full speed it has nothing to do with boot cam, it's a dual core matter. BitterSweet
aMSN never works properly for me, not even the latest version. I'd tried disabling the second core GoSH but it didn't make a difference, but I reformatted and installed and this time installed MSN before I installed the drivers and it worked. I suppose odd little flaws like this is why it's still a beta Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14118-msn-on-bootcamp/#findComment-90641 Share on other sites
BlueTrance
MSN 7.5 works great for me with another webcam, but I had to disable iSight before because I was having a lot of troubles Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14118-msn-on-bootcamp/#findComment-98830 Share on other sites
