Hi,

I've just built a new computer with the plan of installing OSx86 on it, consisting of the following:

  • Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L Motherboard (BIOS v1.0)
  • Intel Q8200 2.3GHz Core 2 Quad S775 with 4MB Cache
  • Crucial 4GB RAM Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 667MHz/PC2-5300 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5
  • 2x Seagate 500GB SATA II Hard Drives (7200rpm with 32MB Cache)
  • Inno3D 8500GT 512MB DDR2 PCI-E Graphics Card
  • Netgear WG111 Wireless-G USB Adapter
  • Samsung External USB DVD±RW Drive

I do not plan to use Windows on the machine, it will simply be a single boot Mac OS X machine. I read that iDeneb was the simplest way to achieve this, so attempted to install after building the machine. After booting from the DVD, it throws back a "com.apple.Boot.slist" not found error, before moving onto the boot prompt. Pressing enter at the boot prompt as instructed throws up the error again before looping back to the boot prompt.

Does anyone know what the problem may be? Also, is there an easier solution for installing Mac OS X 10.5.5 on the above set-up? I don't have my Leopard install DVD at home, although could get one from work if that would make things any easier. I'd also like to be able to install point updates without having to wait for a Kaylway update, hence taking the iDeneb route.

Thanks in advance.

It is very simple. You need to set in BIOS SATA drive in AHCI mode. iDeneb will be installed without problem.

Choose vanilla kernel.

I recommend also after installation delete JMicronATA.kext and install AppleVIAATA.kext to support ATA DVD. (or you have only USB DVD?)
