hi

so, this is my first hackintosh, and it would be my first overclocking.

i kinda know that i have to change the FSB and/or the voltage of the CPU, but dont know what else to change modify etc.

so my setup is a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P board, with firmware F5 (the newst so far) and an intel Quad 2 Core 2.83Ghz, Q9550.

i also have a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro cooler ( http://www.arctic-cooling.com/cpu2.php?idx=79 ) and enough other fans (all 12x12cm from noiseblocker, very silent but good).

my processor runs 35-45°, when i stress it with video encoding or cinebench i get 50-55° degrees at maximum so far.

and since my MacBook runs sometimes at up to 80°degrees when watching youtube i think my Hackintosh can get a bit overclokcing.

so, i wanted to overclock it to ~3.4Ghz

what settings i have to use in the BIOS which things i have to change, and do you guys think 3.4Ghz will work with the Q9550 or would that be too far?

since i do lots of video encoding i can use the overclocking :D

thanks in advance

Hmm, I've got the Q9550, however I have DDR3 1333. From reading the article << modis >> posted, it looks like not only will I not be able to OC, but my ram is actually my current bottleneck.

Does anyone have information to enforce or refute this? I'd love to OC mine to 500x8.5 = 4.25GHz

but if I were to do that, I would need DDR3 2000, because 2000/4 = 500mhz which would be my FSB. Grrrrr... wonder if I can sell the memory lol. buying DDR3 2k would only be like $80 more than I already spent, but I don't want to spend another $240.

Ideas? Suggestions?

Edit: woops, I meant DDR 1333, not DDR 1033
