juunbug
Hello all, cant figure this one out. During installation all is smooth, however once in the OS, the DVD-Rom stops being detected, ie; if there is a disk in the drive, after a few hours or so it will not eject, or even be read, then freezes Finder and I am forced to restart. I am also unable to mount any images when the system goes all screwy like this, so its not isolated to the DVD-RW. Tried with multiple installs; JaS 10.4.8 XxX 10.4.11 iAtkos 10.5.1 Kalyway 10.5.1 iDeneb 10.5.5 Ive tried with Vanilla kernel and without, I've tried removing all unnecessary hardware during install, I've purchased a SATA DVD RW in case it was a JMicron issue, no change, so I'm assuming its an ICH8 problem, but I haven't seen any similar issues on the forums. And with every attempt to troubleshoot, I keep getting the same results. I initially though it was a hardware issue, but when I used my iDeneb install disk on a friends computer, with completely different hardware he has the same issue (Bad Axe 2 Board, however, with ICH8). I have been using OS x86 since '06 and I haven't experienced any issues I haven't been able to fix (or find a fix for ) but this one has me baffled, and is driving me batty. I tried searching many a times but to no avail. Any help is appreciated. Current setup: XxX 10.4.11 / iDeneb 10.5.5, separate drives, both MBR, use bios drive selector to choose OS version Asus P5B Deluxe w/WiFi (JMicron, ICH8) Using Mysticso's installer pack for Tiger Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz 6 Gb Patriot DDR2 800MHz (2x1 Gb, 2x2 Gb) 500 Gb SATA Western Digital HDD (Tiger) 250 Gb SATA Seagate HDD (Lepopard) Lite-On SATA DVD+/-RW Ultra 800w power supply GeForce 7600 GTX 256 Mb Again, any info is appreciated.
