Keep getting grey screen freeze

When I try to multitask...running vmware and then try to pull up another app or when doing some video editing with adobe premiere pro, the computer will sometimes go to gray screen (it goes about half way) and freezes and I have to restart. I am running XxX 10.5.5 beta and it runs better than any one I have tried yet other than the freezing up. I am by no means an expert on these things and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? 2.40 quad-core, p5k-vm MB, nvidia 7300 gt graphics.

How much memory to you have installed & do you have your graphic's card fully supported (QE)

I think I found the problem. There was 2 different kinds of memory. I took out the odd memory and I have put it through the test and no lock-ups so far. So far the XxX 10.5.5 is running better than any I have installed in the past.
