A while back, i had needed to enable AHCI within in vista after an ide install, in order to set up one of the many os x86 dvd's! This ahci is no longer needed and i get issue with my sata dvdrw drive. The fix is easy, switch from AHCI to ide in the bios, but i get a BOSD ( windows) where osx boots fine, anyone know a way to reverse the ahci to ide within vista?

When installing Vista, it detects what SATA setting it is on and installs that driver, if you change it, you will most likely have to reinstall Windows to get it to work properly.

I installed OSX using ACHI and Native mode enabled.

Erased OSX, installed Vista with both ACHI and Native mode enabled, worked fine.

Realized I need to write to my backup ide drive, went into bios, turn OFF ACHI and Native mode OFF.

Vista booted up and installed the ide driver for me once it got to the desktop, so it should work.

Having said that, when I started the entire process and things were reversed, when I attempted to boot into vista with ACHI and Native mode enabled for an install that had them disabled, it crashed on me.
