chandleya
As you can see from my signature, i own Macs. I'm playing around with the 'hackintosh' side as a hobby, not for any great life-altering purpose. That said, several apps work. MS Office 2008 student and teacher edition fails with no great message other than "the source media you are installing from is damaged" after getting through with MS Word. Of course, tested in a Apple-branded machine, this just isn't so. What could it be, perhaps? Kabooka
i dunno , maybe it is damaged , try copying the installer on the harddisk and running the setup. I am currently running , Microsoft Office 2008, Adobe Photoshop CS3, Final Cut pro etc from my hackintosh & it all runs flawlessly. chandleya
I just said that I ran it from my authentic macs without issue. My guess is that iDeneb has left something out of his distribution that causes office to fail. Frogburn959
I had the same issue when installing MS office 04 on with kalyway Distro, something to do with EFI i think, but I recently successfully installed Office with Leo4all 10.5 distro full EFI support Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/140233-ideneb-v5-1055-and-software-issues/#findComment-994227 Share on other sites
hounddog
I just said that I ran it from my authentic macs without issue. My guess is that iDeneb has left something out of his distribution that causes office to fail. My Install of IDeneb 10.5.5 appears to have a problem...I can't turn off the Screensaver. I have it set to "never" but it still go's to screensaver after a few minutes left running. So I think there is some stuff missing, but I do have Microsoft office running great. I also drop internet connection whenever I do a download . Well quick short downloads not a problem...but google earth and such seems to drop my connection. I will search around to see if I can find an answer to that. ShortStop
I'm running Office 2008 just fine on iDeneb 10.5.5 but as Kabooka wrote I copied the installer to disk and ran it from there. Updated through service pack 1 and all subsequent updates just fine.
