  2. Noob with a Question

I've been where you have been, at the cross roads of Hackintosh or a genuine mac, and I have to say it all comes down to what kind of user are you? do you wanna spend months working and tweaking a hackintosh so that it works at 95% like a mac, or do you want a 100% functional mac and build and create great things with it. Hackintosh is a hobby, just for the fun of tinkering. there are some hackintoshers who are experts and making hacktoshes and other who use it as a gateway to the world of mac. while it is cost effective to build a hackintosh, it may not an effienience use of your time. you decide and good luck. oh and I read this on the apple discuession site: link: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3508737?start=0&tstart=0 Q:Can a brand new Mac Mini (latest edition) support 2 monitors, and if so how (what should i buy)? A:I did this with the adapter "thunderbolt to DVI" for one monitor and I used the adapter "HDMI to DVI", which came with the mini for the second monitor. Just connect it and start the mini. In the system preferences, topic "displays" configure how you want them to appear. That's it.
  3. I just wanted to confirm that with the kakewalk method you have sleep, on/off, fully working no other problems? which BIOS are you using?
  4. I've got this adapter in my Hackintosh, running on 10.6.8, works great, I'm using a Apple Extreme Mini PCI-E wireless card, Highly recommended!!
  5. Project: Gattaca

I was hoping you would include the cost of componenets and the cost of any modifications/fabrications you did for materials since an ATX motherboard does not naturally fit in these cases without some sort of mod. Just wanted to say I think you did an excellent job documenting your work and progress,

Does anyone know where I can buy Motherboard headers for USB, Firewire, Audio and Power connections? I answered my own question, heres a great source for USb and other motherboard headers: http://www.frontx.com/order_c.html
  10. or Try using a myHack USB bootloader, it'll bootin your OS, you may even beable to enable your network abilities and take files off as needed, google myhack for a detailed, how to.
  11. Snow Leopard Retail on Dell 1525

First of all I just wanted to say a more comprehensive search on your behave would have saved you time on this posting you created, the solution you need is fixed by using "MyHack" bootloader, I myself have installed 10.6.2 on dell 1525, it work quite nicely, minus the track pad, 2 figure scoll works but the track pad itself still sucks. good luck. as for the other issues use the kexts from 10.5 they all worked for me
  12. ATI Mobility Radeon x300 in Leopard

The best piece of advice I can give is if u need a mac fir business application your should invest in one otherwise you'll be forever tweeking your hackintosh if think about how much time have u put into getting it to vs. Actually working on it in ur case you are at a roadblock time get a new platform
  13. DSDT help

what dell hardware are you using, I.E Model and what are the specs? CPU type, chipset etc... I would read this link: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=189272 to get help with creating a DSDT file and these are some really good threads for detailed info on DSDT making DSDT fixes for Gigabyte boards http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=192518 DSDT - Vanilla Speedstep - Generic Scope (_PR) http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=181631 P5K PRO - Snow Leopard installation... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=188920 as for installing Leo my favorite method is from a working Mac OS computer with target harddrive attached: Boot into a current OSX install on your PC, Kalyway, or whatever. Launch Disk Utility, and format the disk you want to install to. Name it Macintosh, and use GUID. You can name it whatever, I chose Macintosh. Insert a real Leopard install DVD or mount the DVD image. Launch the terminal, and type cd "/Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages" Then type open OSInstall.mpkg Install to the drive/partition you just partitioned, customize as desired ------------------------------------------------------------------------- hope this helps
  14. Mouse and Pinwheel are solid black?

So this weekend I upgraded to 10.6.3 and broke my system, lost audio, I was at the point where I just gave in and started from scratch, Here's why this is interesting, nothing I did in control panel did this, I tried looking at NVDAResman.kext but i couldn't seem to understand what i was looking for I used text-wrangler to take a look, I will download plist editor next to double check, but to the point. I installed from retail 10.6 then, updated to 10.6.1 then 10.6.2, everything looked good, then I connected my blue tooth magic mouse to my system, and did some miscellaneous mac updates, after which i rebooted. I after the reboot my mouse icon was back to being black\blue, the only common factor I have here is the syncing of the magic mouse, also it does not happen every time if I reboot some times the icon is fine, do you think its still NVDAResman.kext, what should i be looking for, i.e. which string?
