pierrox
Hi, Weird one today: my Wind just won't boot up. I shut it down yesterday night, as usual. I havent changed anything, no new install, nada. This morning, I try to boot it and OSX just won't boot: I get the Grub bootloader first (I have dual booting with Ubuntu), then it chooses OSX automatically, then the only thing I get is a blinking "-" at the top left corner instead of the Darwin countdown. Looks like the Darwin is screwed and won't even load. Is there an easy way to reinstall it? Or do I have to reinstall everything from start? Thanks. PS: if I choose Ubuntu when in Grub, it boots no problem in Ubuntu. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139979-wind-wont-boot/ Share on other sites
pierrox
Looks like a problem with the drive. If I wait for a while at the flashing "-", a message eventually appears: EBIOS read error: Media error Block 25700770 Sectors 64 Dead drive? Faulty drive? Any ideas welcomed. pierrox
Thank God I have half a brain and we have some friends here that gave me a hint: Quote: OH NOES!!! HFS+ PARTITION ERROR! Yes, this happens to the best of us. If you're dual partitioning, than this will happen after installing Mac OSX with an already existing Windows XP Partition. There are three simple ways to fix this. In Mac OSX Boot up the install ISO again, select terminal, and type Code: Code: fdisk -u /dev/disk0 It will ask you if you want to fiddle with the MBR, and answer yes (by typing "y" or "yes") Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139979-wind-wont-boot/#findComment-992050 Share on other sites
