Burbruee
Ok, here's my story. I got this new PC almost a year ago, and shortly after, I tried to install OS X Leopard on it. (It was 10.5.2 by Zephyroth) All worked out of the box, graphics, audio, network.. And it was pretty fast to boot too. (not really, but compared to now) Was running it for a couple of months, then I needed windows and didn't have a spare drive, so I wiped my Leopard drive and installed windows. 3 months ago.. I had a spare drive and wanted to install osx86 again. But this time, it didn't go quite as smooth. So by this time, 10.5.2 was starting to feel a bit old, as both 10.5.4 and even 10.5.5 discs started to float around, I went for iDeneb and Leo4all and tried both of them. Selecting drivers and installing the system and so on, then booting for the first time took me about.. 15 minutes. (not joking) Where it actually stood still the most was right before the graphical system launched. It was just black for surely 7 minutes. Then came the guide, etc. Sound and QE working. BUT, not only was the boot slow, the entire system was REALLY SLOW. And I do mean _really slow_ I tried to reinstall choosing different options and so on, tried other releases and even went back to my old Zephyroth 10.5.2, but it was all with the same result! A really slow system.. Today (or by now it was yesterday) I wanted to try it once again. But again with a different result. After installation, the system is slow like last time, but this time the setup guide won't let me finish. It freezes on the "transfer settings" screen and then the guide restarts again and keeps looping like that forever.. Now, I didn't really do any troubleshooting, just reinstalling with different options selected and so on, but with no difference. Still 10-15 minutes boot time and guide looping. Now let me get to the most interesting point.. Nothing has changed in my configuration except a new DVD burner. Nothing. No new graphics card. No new CPU. No new network card etc. And as far as I can remember, no changes has been made in the BIOS since that time when I once had Leopard working _perfectly_ with Zephy 10.5.2. I don't really expect someone to magically help me out since I haven't really shared any logs or anything like that. But isn't it strange for it to work FAST half a year ago and then go from that to SLOOOOW and from that to not even reaching the desktop without any new parts installed in my computer and no important changes made in the BIOS? I just can't figure out what has changed that causes this. At the moment I had to go all the way back to JaS 10.4.8, which seems to be working very nicely, but now that I've had Leopard working once before, I kind of miss a lot of it's features. (although I love the white menubar, blue apple and rounded corners in Tiger, can't say I like the menubar in Leopard at all) My specifications should be in my signature if someone should need them. Thanks for any help I could get. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139824-huh-strange-problem-installing-leopard/ Share on other sites
