Hi everyone,

I have a relatively clean 10.5.5 system. I've used Boot132 to install retail 10.5.0 then updated to 10.5.5 and installed aquamac's drivers and NVdarwin so that my 9600GT works. So far that's pretty much all I've done, so as you can see the system is largely unmodified.

I'm trying to install Wrath of the Lich King (a "full" install rather than an upgrade of a previous expansion) and it starts off fine, but when it gets to 22% the entire system freezes, including the mouse (and the installer's background music "hangs"). This happens every single time (I've tried it three times so far).

I have yet to try safe boot, but has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions?

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3

Gigabyte GF 9600GT (512 MB)

Thanks :(

I tried safe boot and it installed perfectly. I then rebooted back into normal mode and it seems to be running perfectly; in fact with this 9600 it looks better than I've ever seen it :D

So my problem is fixed, although the fact that it crashed the system in the first place is a bit of a concern: Other apps could potentially have the same problem. I'm therefore still interested in hearing any suggestions.

Thanks :wallbash:

Good to hear that it wasn't just me :)

I've replaced the drive with a SATA one and have disabled the JMicron controller. I tried to install a second copy of WoW but the installer is too "clever" and won't let you install it a second time. When I have a moment I'll remove the whole thing and try reinstalling it from the DVD.

Edit: I decided that now was as good as any time. Installation was perfect :D
