Hello Guys !

I am an administrator of a Eee PC website and, in the past four days, I've been trying to figure out a solution for my problem by myself, but I simply couldn't until now.

I've been trying to Install OSX on my Eee PC 4G, but as it does not have a CD/DVD drive (nor do I own a external DVD Drive), I have to find another method for me to install OS X directly on it's internal HDD.

My first thought was to install OS X on a USB Stick through another computer (I accomplished that), boot the Eee PC from this USB Stick (also done), and clone the 4Gb USB Stick to the Eee PC' internal HDD (that is the problem).

The thing is, the Eee PC won't boot from it's internal Hard Drive. When I choose to boot from it, it just gets to a black DOS screen as shown below:

So, I am sure that Mac OS X (when booted from USB Stick at the Eee PC) recognizes the Eee PC HDD and sees the OS X 10.4.8 installed.

A few things that I've tried :

  • Make the HDD active by using the "fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0" command
  • Install OS X on another USB Stick [8Gb] (Maybe copying the USB Stick that the computer had booted from was interfering in cloning something) and then copy the OS X from the 4Gb Stick to the HDD.
  • "Restore" the CD onto the 4Gb USB Stick, to boot from it and install OSX at the HDD.
  • Mount DVD Image and open OSInstall.mpkg to install it. (Don't know why it didn't work. It just gets to ~95% and says an error occurred.
  • Chose the cloned HDD at the 'Startup Disk' and restarted. Lead to the same DOS screen.

I'm really out of ideas now. It seems to me that the OS X is installed, but the computer won't recognize the boot order from the HDD (It would be correct if the OS was installed directly to the HDD, but not cloned from a USB Stick.

Hardware I Have available to do the task :

4GB USB Stick

8GB USB Stick

(other USB Sticks, if necessary)

HP Pavillion with DVD/RW drive

Eee PC with 4GB internal HDD

Modified version of Mac OS X with support for my hardware

I appreciate any suggestions you may have. It's really pissing me off not being able to perform such task.

Thanks in advance !
